70 percent of schools that had bans on phone usage in schools five years ago have since reversed those bans. Including the largest school district in the United States, the New York City School District. Cell phones have been integrated into our modern world and our everyday lives over the past decade, and now cell phones are seen as a necessity for many students and teachers. Cell phones provide many learning and collaborative opportunities for students as well as a way to communicate with parents or authorities in emergency situations. Although cell phones can be distracting in a learning environment, they allow the students, teachers, and schools to take advantage of new technology as a resource for communication and innovation.
Lots of parents and businesses think that books should be banned, do you? I am for banning books because I feel that books should not talk about homosexuality, drugs, alcohol, smoking, nudity etc. Books should be banned due to bad language and bad content. I feel like bad words shouldn 't be allowed in books because kids learn things from books and if it has bad words and bad content in them unfortunately kids will learn inappropriate things. Books should be banned if they have PDA especially with two people of the same gender.
Liam claims that they help with concentration but Principal Schwarts says that there is no evidence about fidget spinners helping with concentration, and are disruptive to others. Fidget spinners should not be allowed in classrooms because they distract other students, they can hurt kids, and there is no concrete evidence that they help with concentration. One reason that I believe that fidget spinners should not be allowed at school is because they are disruptive to other students. Quiet fidget spinners can even be distracting. Teachers can even get distracted by these toys.
Behavioral changes from one generation to the next naturally occur little by little. Nonetheless, changes in adolescent behavior from the millennial generation triumphing it have been substantial and revolutionary. Today’s teens have never witnessed a world without internet. The majority of them possess smartphones and waste several hours each week on social media. But while numerous parents may feel allayed about their teens’ seeming uninterested in drinking, driving and dating, they could perhaps be overlooking the effects that continuous internet access has on their teens’ mental well-being.
“Shut Down Your Screen Week” is a national movement, challenging families to drift away from technology for a week. However, a “screen free week” here in SLH would do nothing but take away kids’ social ties, take away great opportunities of education, and could even jeopardize their safety. Spring Lake Heights Elementary should not participate in “Shut Down Your Screen Week”. According to Keith Hampton, author of the article “Social Media as a Community,” “There is little evidence that social media is responsible for a trend of isolation, or a loss of intimacy and social support.” The idea that technology is isolating kids is simply not true. Personally, I have experienced the accusation.
The child had not been taught the difference between a weapon and a toy (Miller). Because the grandmother lacked knowledge on how to properly secure a gun, the child’s life was put in danger. Even worse, the child could have killed, or severely injured his peers that were on the bus with him. This child didn’t know the harm he could have caused because of his firearm awareness being neglected. Simple issues such as the incident in Alliance are
Opioids are now being prescribed for back pain, migraines, and other small instances. “ Because they produce euphoria in addition to pain relief, they can be misused. Regular use- even as prescribed by a doctor can lead to dependence ,and when misused, opioid pain relievers can lead to overdose incidents and deaths” (Drugabuse.gov/opioids) Prescribing opioids have more dangers to the human than they do
Children around the world play adult content video game And many parents say it is bad for their children; however video games can actually help their children learn. Approximately 90% of children in the United States play video games, and more than 90% of those games involve mature content that often includes violence (Park, 2014). There are those that believe video games are detrimental to society, however playing video games including those with mature content can actually be beneficial to both individuals and society by increasing knowledge expanding the ability to react positively at real life situations and improving cognitive thinking skills. Children that play video games not only have the potential to increase their ability to learn right from wrong, and to improve their cognitive thinking skills the game can also increase a child’s knowledge. Video games show your child 's information from the past like modern warfare games show how it was like on the battlefield, Games can conclude their child memory of what would happy if they do wrong or they do right.
How are smartphones affecting the middle or high school student’s teen life? Well, in the century we live in, technological devices are considered essential. Thus, considering smartphones, many adults and children are being introduced to new relevant technological products everyday around the nation. Although of how beneficial smart devices could be, middle and high school students seem to become too dependent on their cell phones and other 21st Century technology. To emphasize, smartphones in schools are influencing young children, causing students to become less social and consequently, parents are apprehensive.
For many teenagers in our world today, playing video games may be a huge part of their daily lives. In contrast, many individuals think playing violent video games will not be safe for kids. However, research has shown that video games have solved some of science’s biggest problems. Teens could someday cure diseases. Also, kids who play violent games are being “exposed” to what war may be really like.
