People rely on technology for almost everything. Many people, especially Millennials and teenagers, are completely dependant on cell phones and computers. So dependant, that according to a study done by the New York Times, people between 18 and 24 years old check them an average of 82 times a day (Alderman). When it is a number that high - 82 - numerous questions may be raised of whether technology is good for our society. Not many people say hello to others 82 times a day, but through using cell phones and computers, saying hello to 82 people is certainly reachable, and whether this is a good thing or bad thing is where many disagree. Communicating online leads to individuals or groups getting together in person, something that may not happen without the easy communicating technology brings. Before technology, it took a bike ride to a friends house to knock on the door and ask if him/her can hangout. With the endless ways to chat online, staying connected to someone in another state or even country is more than doable. Video chats allows people to talk face to face on live camera, and social media profiles keep others caught up on others lives. Keith Hampton explains “For friends who can’t always meet in person, technology helps them stay connected.
