Effects of the Fridge
1) Social
Before the invention of fridge, food often would not be stored for a few days without spoiling it which becomes inedible. The technology of refrigeration allows the temperature to be lowered down to an extent that food can be stored for days, weeks or even months. It also slows down the growth of most of the microorganisms.
Generally, storage of fridge can be categorized into 5 areas (Figure 8.1). Each of them has its own usefulness and you can arrange them accordingly to your food which brings tidiness and convenience to fridge. Moreover, a proper arrangement of food storage can extend the freshness of food longer (Pescow, R., 2013). For example, most of the people will put their condiments or sauces at the door of the fridge because they can be easily picked up by them.

One of the most common disadvantages of fridges is that they are environmentally unfriendly and dangerous if not disposed of properly. It contains refrigerant that can be damaging to the environment because of chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) content. (Refer to figure 8.6) The material is suspected to be the cause of depletion of the earth’s ozone layer. (Refer to figure 8.7) Ozone layer is important to human because it filters ultraviolet radiation from the Sun that causes skin cancer, sunburn and eye conditions.
After that, one of the biggest disadvantages of the fridge is the cost of to run it. It takes approximately one-sixth of the electricity that you use at home along with the freezer and it was even worse than this when our parents are still using the earlier models of this. According to figure 8.8, the difference between the cost of running a 30 year old and a fairly standard modern ‘A’ rated freezer is £106/year. A super-efficient A++ rated fridge freezer would save £133/year at 2010 electricity prices (T2c.org.uk,

grocery shelf has traveled farther than most families go on their annual vacations,” (239) was a surprising fact. Often times I think families go farther out of their hometown for a family vacation. Some families go out of state, and others go out of the country. To think that our food travels this far is kind of unsettling. The food products go through a “transport, refrigeration, and processing” period before we actually see them.
I. Introduction Long ago, since ancient time humans have been using energy and striving for the betterment of themselves, it all began with the use of tools which led to the discovery of fire, from this great breakthrough, humans evolved exponentially. Eons have passed and humans are still using fire to ease their daily lives from cooking, mobility and electricity, but due to the increase in advancement of technologies, it has also increased damages to the planet, thus the governments had started to move towards a producing or replacing the old harmful substance to a less harmful ones, but since one of the most used and one of the highest cause of ozone depletion is chlorofluorocarbon (CFC), it has been banned from production due to the Montreal Protocol 1991, one of the causes as to why it was banned is one of the chemicals it contain is chlorine, once a certain condition is met it depletes the ozone layer, ergo with earth shield compromised more harmful ultraviolet rays will get into the planet, thus only the reservoir of CFC are being used today, now it’s a race against time to replace this CFC with other materials that is less harmful and either as or more efficient than it. There are not a lot of ways to replace chlorofluorocarbon. Some of the most prominent ones are hydrochlorofluorocarbon (HCFC), hydrofluorocarbon (HFC) and magneto caloric effect (MCE).
In the US, 40% of food produced, or approximately 365 million pounds of food, is wasted each day. Food waste, however, is a problem that extends beyond America, affecting billions of people as a global issue. The overwhelming amounts of food that are being discarded contribute to global warming and climate change, and prevent the massive number of hungry people from being able to eat nourishing meals. Humanity as a whole must be more mindful of the Earth and its health, as we are the source which most directly affect it. Due to the profound environmental impacts of food waste, a reduction in the amount disposed is necessary to create a more sustainable environment, and humans have a responsibility to protect the planet, even if it requires drastic changes to the current food system.
Once the practice of keeping foods like milk sanitary, it will spread to the other foods like the meat packing industry and create a chain reaction of safety that helped to improve the lives of everyone with their experience of food and their health in
Currently I am volunteering as a worker at our local food pantry downtown. The pantry is called Hope Distribution and is part of the Catholic Charities program sponsored by the Archdiocese of the Catholic Church. I am volunteering here working the front desk keeping tracks on the clients that utilize our pantry. We issue intake forms for new clients and mark the frequency that a client in need comes to the pantry. Here, I also help guide them throughout the pantry assisting them with the items that they are allowed to make choices on.
It is the society who has shaped these needs, as people’s emphasis on speed and convenience has encouraged supermarkets to introduce pre-packaged and processed food, such as pre-cut vegetables or shredded cheese. Even if that is true, some smart consumers have started questioning this norm and already
Everyone needs to eat in order to live, and everyone should be able to. As mentioned in the video clip supplemented by the article: “Report: Up to Half of World Food Production is Wasted”, there are severe problems with food waste in the industrialized world. Rules set by the EU states that abnormal looking food should be thrown away. Misconceptions about the expiration date on food leads many consumers to throw away edible food.
I. We consume 8,500mg of salt per day, almost all from processed food. This is only one of the many reasons people have poor nutrition. Humans tend to not know the difference between processed and real foods causing the nutrition levels in our society to drop at an alarming rate. For years this problem has been a big factor to obesity and illness. Real food is single ingredient with no chemicals even if they’re ground and put into a jar.
1. Introduction: Carbon dioxide (CO2) is one of the important green house gases (GHGs) emitted in the atmosphere through various human and natural activities. The human activities include rapid industrialization and urbanization, deforestation, excessive use of fertilizers in agriculture, excessive use of fuels, papers and many other manmade resources whereas natural activities include volcano eruption, forest fires, earthquakes etc. Emission of GHGs in the atmosphere leads to global warming which is one of the primary reasons behind the atmospheric changes that affect the human life directly or indirectly. The consequences of global warming are extremely harsh seasons, untimely rains, extended summers and floods that results in human deaths, destruction of flora and fauna in addition to the huge economical losses.
Everyday billions of people all of the world decide how they will provide breakfast, lunch, and dinner for themselves and/or their families. People enjoy gathering around food for all types of celebrations, football games, family gatherings, meetings, and more. Food is an absolute necessity in our lives as it is the fuel for our bodies and everyone has the choice to cook meals within their homes each day or they have the choice of eating out at a restaurant. In the time we are living in today there are a lot more restaurants available than there was 50 years ago and the number continues to rise. Both eating out and eating at home have advantages and disadvantages

Restaurants also improve capacity since they can now offer a wider range of items as the time required to prepare these meals are largely reduced.
