Description: My essay is about the residential school system, specifically looking into the negative effects created by the system and how these effects impacted the indigenous population.

Main points: The three negative effects of the residential school system include the numerous deaths caused by the inhumane punishment of indigenous kids, the trauma endured by surviving students caused by the experience, and the forced eurocentric education of indigenous kids to strip them of their native culture/languages. The impacts that are seen in the indigenous population today created by the effects previously listed include the cultural genocide of indigenous people and the social problems (poverty, lack of education, health issues) that are persistent in indigenous communities today.
