We, as a collective body of people from all over the world, face a large list of important issues. At the top of this list, we will most likely find drug dependency. For many people and families, drug issues become a tragedy that effects their lives in far too many ways. With the proliferation of illicit drugs all over the world, we find that each generation is facing issues they are ill-prepared to deal with without getting help.

It 's far more common to see treatment centers focusing on the individual. The industry is quickly learning that each addict is an individual. By setting forth custom treatment plans, counselors are better able to get at the core issues that create the need for users to keep using.

Created in 1981, this study has several implications for human addicts. It demonstrates the importance of support and a strong community around the addict during their treatment process. PO returned to IOP group after being released from confinement. PO was on time and presented with a positive attitude. PO participated well in the group discussion and activities that included: checking-in; brainstorming the pros and cons of being in recovery, as well as the costs and benefits of continuing drug use. PO self-disclosed the use of heroin on 08-05-2015. PO used “The Payoff Matrix” handout to identify the Pros and Cons of his recent relapse, and shared feelings, thoughts, and behaviors that associated with relapse with peers openly and appropriately, also actively involved in the group discussion on how to stay motivated throughout the difficult times.
For starters, Hari discusses how society over the years has made misconceptions about addiction, because of this addicts have been wrongfully treated, and blame was placed incorrectly. The author goes on to explain two different stories; both being well known about the prescription drug crisis. One being the fact that even the most powerful drugs such as diamorphine hasn’t caused addiction (Hari). In fact, that didn’t make sense to Hari on how powerful drugs were used in extreme medical cases and through prolonged use none became addicted. This is one of the misconceptions about addiction.
