Nowadays our lives are combined with technology in a way that we can’t omit it at all .TV is one of the things that we use the most per day . it helps us to go along with our community ,notice things that are happening around us ,get new informations and … . but it has got a dark sides too . specially for children who are influenced the most. Watching tv has turned into one of the major hobbies for children that both of their parents work and they have to stay alone at home , the ones that are only child of a family or the ones who live in buildings with a lot a neighbors . so they don’t have anyone to play with , or they have to keep quiet for their neighbours , families are too busy to take them to parks and playgrounds so they have to watch tv to fill up their spare time , and it gradually turns to be their habit . I believe that at this age they might receive the most amount of effects and everything …show more content…
I also believe that tv affected on relations between family members and people in one society . they prefer to watch movie instead of talking together , people spend a high amount of their times talking about tv series and they prefer to watch tv instead of reading a book . it gradually makes people less thoughtful less considerative and less sociable . In addition to all reasons above , i believe some of disease are related to TV too . for example watching TV for a long time causes eye disease . headaches , hearing problems and … . it also makes children lazy and they feel always tired , some children suffer from lack of sleep and others are always sleeping
Which caused our culture to become closer. Another thing the tv impacted our culture is the laziness. When the tv came out kids would watch tv instead of going outside. Also kids and also adults were reading less. "People were reading less .
"Turn off the Television and Read" was written by Albert Hodapp. His main idea of this article is to encourage parents with kids that reading has a greater impact on children than television. He believes that reading at a young age benefits children's intelligently, physically, and sustainability significantly. He uses rhetorical devices to appeal the audience to the same feelings. Hodapp uses pathos, logos, and ethos as rhetorical devices to display that watching television affect children's behavior, education, and health.
Watching tv to much is bad ,just by telling them a white lie to make them believe something that is not true. This way your child thinks something and they won’t watch the tv as often. It helps you as well , because you know they won’t watch tv as much and they would be doing something different. The reason I don’t like certain types of lies is when it hurts someone else in a way.
The Overuse of Television Kameron G Loyd BYU-Idaho During an average week, how much television does the average child watch? Parents, educators, and concerned citizens alike would be appalled at the answer of 1,480 minutes (BLS American Time Use Survey, A.C. Nielsen Co.). They would also be revolted by the statistic that 54% of four to six year olds would rather spend time watching television instead of spending time with their fathers (BLS American Time Use Survey, A.C. Nielsen Co.). In 1984, Neil Postman saw how devastating television watching was becoming to the culture of America, and gave a speech to the literary community at the 1984 Frankfort Germany Book Fair entitled “Amusing Ourselves to Death” which deals directly with this monolithic issue. Although the speech and subsequent article, published in Et Cetra, were directed at the publishers, writers, illustrators, etc., all those who read this article can also benefit from Postman’s overarching desire to decrease the hours of mind-numbing television watching.
Thinking logically, the people focus on television so much in this society because they do not have the
n Barbara Ehrenreich’s The Worst Years of Our Lives, she highlights a significant infection festering in American Culture: television as a main event, or only event in a day. As she says “you never see people watching tv”, and that happens because it truly isn’t entertaining. It substitutes for a life. The television has been pulling people into an allusion of a false reality and a seemingly boring life since its implementation. She essentially illustrates the negative impact television has on todays society.
The purpose for this chapter is to explain how technology such as television affects children and parents. Children
Lack of sleep increases students chances of depression and suicidal thoughts. It can also potentially weaken the immune system. The school day is hard enough on a child and not getting enough sleep does not make it any better. School
Jerry Mander in his book ”Four Arguments for the Elimination of Television” shows how television is creating addiction, giving as exemples a 3-year $5 million study done by NIH, that showed that television can be ”addictive and hypnotic”, and how political figures tried to stop such researches(”The President suppressed the study and commissioned another group to re-do it”). Mander also mentions about Marine Winn’s work, that talks about the effect called ”The Plug-In Drug” created by television, wich is wielding an addictive influence on the very young and it is causing dependency simply by showing ”ever-changing array of sights and sounds coming out of the machine” and ”wild variety of images meeting the eye”. As a result, the media is not just showing addictive programs but it also selects for us what to watch, and by creating dozens of programs they gives people the imprestion that they choose what they are watching, when in fact, the information it is easilty
About an average of 32 hours and 47 minutes a week only Americans watch TV shows and 58 minutes a week watching things online (Schonfeld, 2012). Each day technology is developing and its becoming a big part of our society and our foreseeable future. A study shows that only 0.4% of the world population used internet in 1995, meanwhile 50.1% of world’s population used internet in 2016 (Internet Growth Statistics). People should be aware of the side effects of media, because teenagers get influenced by the things they watch and this could change the way they behave to certain things.

Television Violence Television has had an enormous contribution on how the world has changed and how we perceive it. There are hundreds of channels and a vast variety of genres to choose from in just a click of a button; however what you choose can really have an effect on you. People believe that television violence has a negative effect on society because it promotes violence. No doubt, I can agree with what these people believe, that television violence does have an effect on society because people will become more vulnerable, children will become more liable and people will become more aggressive involuntarily. Vulnerability is something that we should not show, as it is a sign of weakness.
There are many effects of media on society and they are positive as well as negative. Some of them are given below:
