The Articles of Confederation was one of the first official documents of the United States. From the beginning of the American Revolution, Congress felt the need for a stronger union and a government powerful enough to defeat Great Britain. During the early years of the war this desire became a belief that the new nation must have a constitutional order appropriate to its republican character. However, after a few short years the Articles were replaced by the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. The Articles were a stepping stone which led to the Constitution however the Articles contained more weaknesses than strengths which forced the colonists to get rid of them and create a new document.
One of the first officials records of the United States was The Articles of Confederation. From the earliest starting point of the American Revolution, Congress felt it was essential for a more grounded and stronger union and a legislature sufficiently effective to thrashing Great Britain. Following a couple short years, the Articles were supplanted by the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. The Articles were a stepping stone which prompted the Constitution however the Articles contained a larger number of shortcomings which constrained the colonists to dispose of them and create a new document.
The New England colonies include Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, and Connecticut. The first settlers that came into the New England colonies were the Puritans who wanted to practice religious freedom. Unfortunately, most of these colonies are not tolerant of other religions. The self-government economy is based on religious beliefs. Finally, the colonies rely on fishing and shipbuilding since the soil and long winters are unsuitable for farming.
Over the past few months, business has been stable throughout the colonies. The leading occupation in these colonies is farming. Although farmers produced a lot of crops, their income was dependent on the value and quality of the crop itself. Agriculture plays a vital role in American economy, and there is evidently some strengths and weaknesses in this business.
This province produces all sorts of grain or corn, the inhabitants likewise breed all sorts of Cattle, in great quantities, which they supply the Merchants of New York and Philadelphia, to carry on their trade, to all the American Islands; but were they a distinct Government, (having very good barbours) merchants would be encouraged to settle amongst them, and they might become a considerable trading people; whereas, at present, they have few or no ships, but coasting vessels, and they are supplied from New York ,and Philadelphia with English Manufacturers having none of their own. New Jersey has large areas of farmland. The settlers of the New Jersey colony made a living by hunting, fishing and farming. Ashes from
The Articles of Confederation was an agreement among the thirteen original states of the United States that served as the first constitution. The Articles had first been introduced by Richard Henry Lee in the Second Continental Congress. Although the Articles of Confederation has made its contributions throughout history, the Articles, however, did not last very long and had been proven inadequate from the very start. I agree with this statement based on the examples and analysis of the Constitution I will soon provide. The Articles of Confederation were written during a time when the American people feared a strong national government. Since the United States was relatively a new nation, it needed some form of organization to hold the states together and keep its government and society stable to build a stronger economy (Knoedl, 2003).
Towards the end of the Middle Ages, the monarchy began to expand their power and influence, eventually becoming absolute rulers. Having support from the merchant class, the monarchy attempted to unify and stabilize the nation states. In the late seventeenth, early eighteenth centuries, with hopes of expanding English trade and acquiring a broader market for English manufactured goods, the nation states were wealthy enough to fund voyages of discovery and exploration. Over time, ten colonies were established along the Atlantic coast of North America. The first permanent English settlement was established in Jamestown, Virginia, in 1607 and in 1620 a ship landed in Plymouth, Massachusetts, marking it as the second permanent English settlement.
Since the end of the American Civil War, Federalism has been a very important idea in the United States. Federalism has appeared in many instances within different governmental ideas. The original idea of Federalism gave up states’ rights and handed them to the government to create a more centralized federal system. Over time Federalism has had many views by different leaders in our government. These viewpoints began with Ronald Reagan’s idea of “New-Federalism,” and carried on throughout time involving the Violence Against Women Act and more recently the urge to modify the Affordable Care Act.

To begin with, New Amsterdam was one of the colonies set up by the Dutch, located alongside the Hudson River. The stockholders in the colony who could transport 50 families were granted large parcels of land . The grants given to them were very large. For example, one grant could be as big as the state of Rhode Island. The people who owned these kinds of grants were called patroons. Conflicts between these patroons and incursions by local Indians led to disturbance in the colony, and later land and business ownership were
