New Venture: SWOT Analysis for Milfried Restaurant Start-up companies play an important role in improving the economy of a country as well as in creating employment opportunities (Gilligan & Wilson, 2015; Kotler, 2005). Nevertheless, as mentioned by Rhonda M Abrams (2012), inadequate planning of the business’s operation is one of them major reason why more than 50 percent of start-up fail during their first year of operation. Firstly, the main threat that will face its operation is vigorous marketing strategies currently being implemented by competitors in the region. Restaurants such as Golden Bear Café have started to adapt integrated marketing campaigns that include promotions, email marketing, discounts, and social media marketing campaigns. Since food products are highly close substitutes, most consumers could decide to consume products from the competitors because of their attractive competition techniques. Secondly, the increase in campaign that promotes the consumption of healthy food products will also pose significant threat to the operation of the company.
