During the first visit , interactions between the workers was highly overlooked. During my two last observations, I paid particular attention to the interactions between the workers as they seemed somehow appropriate and a little bit inappropriate at the same moment. It was appropriate as a man with a light brown skin complexion, hazel brown eyes, came and asked questions about why my partner and I were at the department, what are we hoping to get out of the visit. He also assisted Jensy by explaining more about the device Jensy was repairing. But while they were appropriate interactions at the workplace, they were also a few inappropriate interactions at the department. One example occurred while Jensy was fixing the devices. As she was assigned to telling us about the device, another male technician of dark skin complexion, between the age of 50 to 60 began talking about subjects that were definitely
not related to Biomed and that were definitely quite distracting because it took my attention from Jensy and made me listen to them. From Jensy's discussion, interaction between the workers were very positive overall because the workers would help each other accomplish their tasks and fix the devices
Better by Atul Gawande, one aspect that caught my attention that makes me want to do something better in my work setting is patient negligent. When you negligent something, although you may not notice it, it is still consider negligent. When Atul spoke about Peter doctor not noticing a tumor in his x-ray, and later Peter development lymphoma (Gawande, 2007), that is consider negligent. Working at an Adult Day Health center, there are many situations that you hear from clients telling one another how they are unhappy about their kids treating them or simply not getting along with his/her kids. Hearing these stories, it is hard not wanting to do something about it.
Analysis of the goals has determined that resident satisfaction within Berlasco Court Centre regarding meals is far lower than it should be. The goal of providing a level of independence and freedom for the residents is currently not being met either which is supported further below by the requirements from elicitation. The result has suggested that residents are unhappy with the current meal plan system and would like more versatility as well as an ordering system this system also needs to be efficient for nursing and kitchen staff to minimize damaging impact within those two areas. Using this it’s been established that the primary Business Need is providing a system to ensure greater versatility and control over meal plans for residents.

When I was in ninth grade, I went to a service trip to the Vivian Pellas Hospital in Nicaragua which provides a holistic and comprehensive care program to children suffering from burns, especially those from low income families, called Aproquen. The doctor explained the process of the care that was given and the personal stories from some of the suffered children. As the doctor kept explaining, the psychologist’s office caught my sight. I kept looking into the office where the psychologist was speaking with an injured child, however, they were both smiling brightly. The doctor, whom was explaining to the class, had mentioned that the children are injured both physically and mentally, and that it is easier to cure the children physically than
`At Seattle Children’s Hospital, Kimberly Hiatt had been a cardiac critical care nurse for 24 years. On Setember 14, 2010, she accidently gave an already sick 8-month old baby 1.4 grams of calcium chloride instead of the prescribed 140 milligrams. This report addresses the issues arising from the case study report of Guelph General Hospital. Over the years, the hospital has experienced challenges in the delivery of services to consumers. This is especially due to the expanding numbers of patients that have affected the normal functioning of the hospital system. Starting with the improvement of the emergency department, GGH has focused on the practices that would accommodate the increasing demands for medical services. The lean methodology is one of the implementations that aimed at reducing wastage within the system, in order to create value for the services offered.
In 2005, a family friend by the name of Randy Birdsong was a patient at Audie L. Murphy Memorial VA Hospital located in San Antonio, Texas. The Veteran Affairs (VA) medical staff was performing surgery on his abdomen. After the surgery, he was notified that there was insufficient space to accommodate his continued care. The V.A. advised him to keep his wound clean with a fresh roll of gauze, and sent him on his merry way. A few days later, Randy was back at the V.A. hospital with a noticeable infection taken place in his abdominal region.
There is an opportunity at the Alvin C. York VA Medical Center to improve the safety of patients and staff during the administration of medications on the acute psychiatric units. Currently, all inpatient units at the Alvin C. York VA Medical Center utilize a Pyxis medication station to store patient medications. The current physical location of the medication room and Pyxis stations are not ideal. The Pyxis machine that stores the medications is placed against the back wall close to the nursing station. The location of the Pyxis is next to the medication room where the nursing medication administration cart and scanning system is located.
Based on this case the cost driver is to properly distribute the direct cost among the different divisions. Dr. Julian would like to control her departments costs by having them distributed fairly among the divisions without affecting the hospital’s reimbursement/revenue. Carroll University Hospital is currently using the standard costing unit, which is based on the cost of bed/day for inpatients. Currently the present cost accounting system that is being used at CUH takes the total direct cost of the departments, then allocates the indirect costs and distributes it among the departments evenly regardless of the actual resources being used in those departments, and without considering that there may be some patients in these divisions that may require more resources than others, this method does not seem to recognize the different activities,
