When I grow up, I intend on being neonatal nurse practitioner. Neonatal nurses specialize in taking care newborn infants born with a variety of problems ranging from prematurely, birth defects, infection, cardiac malformations, and surgical problems. There are three levels of neonatal nursing. Level 1 is taking care of newborns in the nursery, Level 2 is Immediate care nurseries, and Level 3 is Neonatal Intensive Care Nurseries. Neonatal nurses typically deal with the babies for only their first month of life, though their problems may last much longer.
My duties while volunteering included assisting the nurses during hearing checks, changing diapers, and rocking crying infants in special care. During this time I realized that nursing is what I was meant to do. I found my passion as a teen volunteer. During high school I have participated in many different activities and clubs. As a member of River Valley’s NHS chapter I serve as chair of the blood drive committee.

My first interviewing experience was at a residential treatment facility and safe hope that provides many services for women suffering from substance abuse disorder as well as mental health disorders. The facility offers women and children a place to stay while they are receiving treatment and making the transition to become independent caregivers for their children. Many women view the facility as place safe place where they openly discuss how to reapply for custody of their children, how to find a job, and how to work through their experience and emotional, physical, and sexual abuse. Therapeutic childcare is also another service offered at this treatment facility while women go to school during the daytime. Often the children have either directly or indirectly experienced some form of trauma.
