Newton has changed the worlds understanding of the Universe by creating and explaining his Three Laws of Motion. But who is Newton? According to DR. Robert A. Hatch Newton is an, “English natural philosopher, generally regarded as the most original and influential theorist in the history of science.” Newton was born in January 4, 1643 in Woolsthorpe, a hamlet near Grantham in Lincolnshire. In 1665 Newton took his bachelor's degree at Cambridge without honors. The university was closed for the next two years because of the plague that was going on in the 14th Century. So, Newton returned to his family’s farm in Woolsthorpe in midyear. There he made observation and he made a series of original contributions to science. There is history behind the Newton’s Laws of Motion, it covers a myriad amount of topics, and it is applied in various activities in our daily routine. According to William Harrison, “Aristotle thought that weight affected falling objects. A heavier object, he argued, would reach the ground faster than a lighter object dropped at the same time from the same height.” But Aristotle’s view rejected the concept of inertia, and Aristotle believed that force was constantly applied. Then, Galileo came about and he found that two objects fall at the same rate and strike the ground roughly at the same time. But Galileo basically observed objects and described them, he never really came up with how to solve the force or speed at which objects were moving. Both of the Greek philosopher and Italian Astronomer were wrong, or they simply failed to fully understand motion and how to solve it. According to William Harris, “. . . it was René Descartes, the great French philosopher, who would add new depth and dimension to inertial motion. In his "Principles of Philosophy," Descartes proposed three laws of nature.” In his "Principles of Philosophy," Descartes proposed three laws of nature. Newton used one of those concepts and described it in his 3 laws of …show more content…

Newton's Second Law of Motion states that when a force acts on an object, it will cause the object to accelerate. Newton's Third Law of Motion states that for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.” The First Law of Motion is also considered to be the Law of Inertia. The first of these laws came directly from According to Anne Marie Helmenstine, “Newton's Laws of Motion help us to understand how objects behave when they are standing still, when they are moving, and when forces act upon them.” The three Newton’s Laws of Motion concern the relationship between force, motion, acceleration, mass, and inertia. According to Spark Notes, “Newton's Laws apply in almost every physical situation.” In order to understand what topics or concepts that Newton’s Laws cover we must understand the concepts individually. A force is a push or pull upon an object resulting from the object's interaction with another object. In physics, motion is a change in position of an object with respect to time and its reference point. Acceleration, in physics, is the rate at which the velocity of an object changes over time. In physics, mass is a property of a physical body which determines the body's resistance to being accelerated by a force and the strength of its mutual gravitational attraction with other bodies. Inertia is the resistance of
