“Virtuous Minds” by Philip E. Dow focuses primarily on loving and serving God with one’s mind. Dow explains that intellectual character consists of inner attitudes and deposition towards things such as truth, knowledge, and understanding. Similarly, a virtuous intellectual character is defined as a deep and abiding love of truth. Dow states that the decisions people make are shaped by the thinking patterns they have developed over the years. Dow describes intellectually courageous people as those who earnestly want to know the truth, and therefore take risks in the promotion and pursuit of truth.
Drew Olberding I am honored to be among the representing students who are being considered for the Glidden-Ralston National Honor Society. During my life there has been some obstacles and gaps in our community. Everyone is limited to their surroundings and react bad to the things we don’t understand sometimes. Since my life has not been simple, it has developed my character and given me the opportunity to be on National Honor Society.
Did you know that 1 in 5 U.S. kids don’t get the food they need every day? This negatively impacts kids’ health and development, but this can also negatively impact them academically as well as emotionally and socially. No Kid Hungry is an organization that is making a difference regarding this problem. No Kid Hungry was founded by Billy Shore and his sister Debbie Shore in 1984. Character is a variety of attributes including the existence of lack of virtues such as empathy, courage, fortitude, honesty, and loyalty, or of good behaviors or habits. Also in my opinion a big aspect of a person's character is what they do when nobody is watching them, who they really are. Morality is the differentiation of intentions, decisions, and actions between distinguished as proper and those that are improper. I think these two qualities were very impactful on my decision whether Captain Madwell’s actions were justified in the story. I believe that Captain Madwell was trying to do the honorable thing and relieve his friend of the horrible situation he was in.
The quote " Character is what you are in the dark" by Dwight Lyman Moody means that we show who we truly are when we face dramatic events. Sometimes, there are events that makes us discover a little bit more about ourselves, perhaps our full potential, our stands on certain topics, etc. The majority of people have certain characteristics that they don't show to everyone, things that they prefer to keep secret. I think this quote is very accurate because we often have to face difficulties to demonstrate who we really are and discover our true potential. Our character is a reflection of the moral and mental qualities that make us distinctive to everybody else.

In his lecture, Dr. Wymore addressed the concept and argument for humility in three key points; pride is one’s greatest enemy and humility is one’s greatest friend, humility is understanding ourselves in right relation

As a Greek philosopher, Heraclitus, once said, “Character is destiny.” I fully agree with Heraclitus and his quote about character because there are many factors in life to why this could be. Character is the key to open a door to a great destiny for both a society and a single individual. Within the character of the citizens, lies the welfare of the nation. In this world of sin, it is good and strong character that enables children to develop, people to survive, and transcend their misfortunes.
A person 's character is the totality of his character traits and can be good, bad or somewhere in between. The admirable character traits, marks perfection in character, and are called virtues. It enable us to act in accordance with reason and also to feel appropriately, and have the right intention. Virtue theory can be used to determine the rightness or wrongness of an action by relating the choice to admirable character traits. The reason why attention should be pay to virtue theory is that it centers on character.
