Same Author Different Movies Nicholas Sparks has written many books that have been made into movies. Many people across the nation patiently wait for a new Nicholas Sparks movie to be released. Even though each movie has the same storyline, Sparks manages to keep people dying to see his newest movies. Although each movie has a similar plot, there are differences in two of his movies: The Longest Ride and The Choice that draw people back to the theaters for the premieres. The movies The Longest Ride and The Choice have many similarities. If a person examines the movies close enough, he or she will realize that each movie is set in a rural area. In The Choice, the couple is very much alike because they are in the medical field. In The Longest Ride, the couple has two completely different interests. For example, Luke is a bull rider and Sophia is an artist. Even though these two couples differ in their interests, Sparks manages to make the characters both fall in love with each other. In both movies, each couple faces a tragic situation (Conti). In The Longest Ride, Luke is thrown off of the bull he is riding at the competition. In The Choice, Gabby is in a car wreck on the way to a date with Travis. In both instances, the tragic situations bring the couples closer. Each significant other waits at the bedside for the injured one to wake up. Travis and Sophia are scared because their loved one is hurting. Travis and Gabby have a family together while Luke and Sophia never get married or have children. Travis and Gabby are older and more mature when they meet in the movie. Luke and Sophia are a younger and more immature couple that does not get married. Both The Longest Ride and The Choice are love stories that are intertwined with a tragedy that ends with both couples overcoming the tragedy. Luke overcomes the terrible accident he has while bull riding. Gabby lives through the car wreck that threatened her like. Both couples face horrific events that bring them closer to each other and makes them stronger as a couple. The couples come from different social classes. Luke Comes from a lower class while Sophia comes from a higher class. Luke is considered lower class because he is a cowboy, and Sophia is higher class because her parents send her to college and she gets into art school in New York. In The Choice, both couples come from higher class backgrounds because they both have medical degrees. Gabby, coming from a higher-class family, is going to school to become a doctor when Travis meets her, and Travis is a local veterinarian at the clinic he and his dad work

In a person’s life, certain aspects can be a trigger for life altering changes. Henry and Lyman’s relationship experiences dramatic changes from buying a convertible and taking it on road trips, to Henry becoming a unfamiliar face to his family.

After trying her immature plan for a while, something devastating happens-Andy Tyler dies. Andy Tyler was the cool guy and was as country as they get in their community-he was the ranch girls ticket to the plateaued, vapid life she wanted so badly because she didn’t think she could have anything else. She believed the lie that she might as well go all the way with this ranch girl life. His death showed that her wanting to be a ranch girl was ephemeral and not sufficient to give her a good life. She always tried to downgrade from her real, intelligent, beautiful individuality.
In both plots there are a pair of young orphan kids-- even though Lennie and George are the same gender-- who ventured off to to an unknown place. They both discover a place that turns out to be welcoming, and at the same time it is filled with temptation. In Hansel and Gretel, the kids were urged to eat the house made out of pastries and in the book, the boys were tempted to work at the ranch so that they could make money and build their idyllic place. The parallels to the fairy tale deepen appreciation, because in both stories the author addresses the theme of “survival”, and they later perceive the peril of the place they are
Lina and Jonas are a brother and sister that get experience this awful disaster together along with their mother. Their father was taken separately. Although they are heartbroken, all four of them know that no matter what happens, they will love each other unconditionally. The risks that the family takes for themselves and others are unbelievable. Love that was shown for each other is huge along with the people they just met on the cattle car.
Luke grew up on the ranch and was injured in a very tragic bull riding incident and could no longer pay the mortgage due to having to cover the medical payments. Linda steps in and pays the mortgage on the ranch even after Luke 's serious accident. The setting of the ranch is important because it shows how Linda is willing to do anything for Luke and how closely knit their relationship is. His reason for creating this fantasy is, because the real ranch is bleak, and depressing. Secondly, Chris’s innocent and childlike behaviour is symbolized by Vanessa and the other children. His love for children and innocence is illustrated by the stories he shared with Vanessa about the dinosaurs and the ranch. Finally, the horses “Duchess and Firefly” are another symbol for Chris’s need to escape from reality. These imaginary horses show just how much Chris prefers imaginary over reality.
They all face discrimination and it makes a hard task, achieving their American Dream, almost impossible. Curley’s Wife, Candy, and Crooks all have an American Dream, but they never achieve it. They all want a simple life where they are treated with respect and allowed to support themselves. None of them get what they want. Curley’s wife ends up dead and Candy and Crooks end up with nowhere to go but back to the ranch and a life where they are hated and shunned.
Which road will the speaker take? This question sets the literal and metaphorical divergence in the woods that the speaker will have to face: both an actual path through the woods and the life decisions implied by it. The first extended metaphor of choice happens in these line: the chosen path is the chosen life choices. She appears to struggle with leaving both her friends in Oregon and in California. As she laments, “Even though I love where I’m going, it’s still hard to say goodbye. Knowing my best friends are counting the days until I return does make it easier” (2).
