The Holocaust was a horrible part of history which has been written about or movies have been made about it. Night by Elie Wiesel and the movie Schindler’s List tell accounts from this time in history. However, the accounts in the book and movie are different, but do have similarities too. Schindler’s List provides a different point of view than Night does for some elements of the Holocaust. The movie is about a man, Oskar Schindler, who hires Jews to work in his factory. However, Night is the first hand account of what Elie Wiesel witnessed when he was in Auschwitz and Buchenwald. Oskar Schindler is part of the Nazi party while Elie Wiesel is a Jew. The movie does show a brief part of Auschwitz when Schindler’s women workers are sent there by mistake, but does not focus on Auschwitz unlike the book. There are many similarities between the book and movie too. One example is, both show/talk about how the Jewish people were sent to the ghettos and how poorly they were treated. I now have a added perspective of how horrible this time in history was. People did anything so they would not have to be sent away to the concentration camps where there was a good chance that they would be killed. For example, one scene in the movie showed children hiding in the outhouse, so they would not be taken away like the rest of the children. The Jewish people should not have been treated likes this, but it is important that future generations learn about what happened. This will be helpful in stopping this from happening ever again. I don’t understand how people could be this cruel to other human beings just because of their religion. Schindler’s List adds onto my thoughts of how wrong it was of the Nazis to treated these people. These human beings were treated like they were not even
