Every successful organisation must have some sort of organisational structure for it to be ran properly or else it would fall apart. There has to be a sense of power and order for there to be any sort of work achieved. is a sports company that provide all things needed in most sports, such as sporting apparel, sporting equipment and sneakers and other accessories. They have stores all over the world and as a result they have become one of the best known sports brands. It is a prime example of an organisation using Mintzberg typology. If one would look at their organisational chart, they would see how the follow in the ida of having six parts. They have the CEO, Mark Parker and the board of directors at the strategic apex, then you have the middle line of the CFO Andrew Campion and the COO Eric Sprunk, then they have operating core, with human resources, administration and leegal, sports marketing, product and marketing etc. After that they have their technostructure with their operations and technology, design and digital departments. They have a large support staff with stores all over the globe and numerous stores in each location and they have the ideology that comes with each store and factory. Looking closely at the design of an organization will tell you how it functions from the front lines to the administrative level. Design guides the way strategies are created and determines how they will be carried out. It establishes the jobs, roles and responsibilities of an organization’s members. Essentially, organizational design furnishes a map with a clearly defined goal the organization wants to reach and the route to attain this goal. County offices of education provide services to school districts by taking on tasks that are better handled at a county level due to complexity, resources needed and specialized requirements.

The different type of structures (1) Functional – each portion of the organisation is grouped according to its purpose. (2) Matrix - ‘’ creates project teams that cut across traditional functional departments, instead of highlighting the role or status of individuals, it gathers together a team of specialists with the objective of completing a task or a project successfully ‘’ . (3) Divisional – It is the grouping of workers on the basis of products being produced, followed by the functional structure. There are two types of divisional structure , (a) Product structure (b) Process structure (4) Geographical – It is the grouping of workers on the basis of regions, followed by the functional structure and , (5) Hierarchical structure which has been adopted by Ritz Carlton. It shows the different levels of hierarchy, span of control and chain of command.

A detailed study on organizational structure relates organizational structure to the way information flows through the hierarchical arrangement. There are basically two types of organizational structure; centralized and decentralized. In a centralized system the highest layer of hierarchy is responsible for decision making and controlling departments and division.
