Nike Vs Adidas Analysis

This project is to compare two competitors, Nike and Adidas, which are both popular in the sportswear industry. I researched the information about these two brands from internet and surrounding people. Then I find that Nike is more focus on producing basketball and running sportswear and accessories. On the contrary, Adidas is specializing in tennis and soccer sportswear and accessories. Thus, they are both have their strengths and weakness. However, I prefer Nike, because Nike is stronger to attract customers and have a steady marketing systems.

After analysis the SWOT of these two companies, I find that Adidas more focus on introduce their products in Europe, and Nike have many worldwide retail store. Meanwhile, Nike do more advertisement than Adidas. However, they both are large size company, which have many sponsors and focus on creating advance technology on their shoes.
After observing for many days, I found that the number of students who wear Nike and Adidas are obviously different. It apparently could be seen that the number of student wear Nike are more than students wear Adidas. Thus, I prepared a questionnaire to interview them. The details of questionnaires are showing in Appendix 2.
I interviewed about 15 students, all of them are at age 15-18. They gave me much useful information about these two brands. The details are shown in the Appendix 2. After reviewing the results of interviews, I found 10 students have chosen Nike, and 5 students have chosen Adidas. The main reasons that students choose Nike are:

Likewise, that 5 students who chose Adidas are more like playing tennis and soccer. Thus, it could be seen that Adidas are more specializes in soccer and tennis products. Meanwhile, Nike has more efficiency technique in running and basketball products than Adidas has.
Then I came to Nike and Adidas store, which are in Nanchen department store. I interviewed these two brands’ managers, I found that they are both franchise store, and these structures of market are easier to manage. They related to their headquarters which means they must sell products in the same price, same methods for sale promotion, same management styles. However, franchise stores are sell in department store, which means they must pay high rent. And the details are in Appendix 2.
