Spirit Ginseng City, the third largest marketplace within the Purple Moon Continent. They sell everything and literally everything from chicken feathers to chicken poop. Whether it would be day or night, the Spirit Ginseng City would always be packed with people either trying to buy food or sell dusty weapons for cheap in a dark corner. What is this queue for and why is there so many people waiting in line at such an early time in the morning?” He knew that the Spirit Ginseng City was always busy, but unless there is a special event going on, it would never reach such heights. And the weirdest part was that the people in line varied from decently dressed individuals to individuals that wore ragged clothes. Hell, even some rich people could be spotted easily because of their dazzling clothes! What could possibly attract so many people from different statuses? What could possibly make rich people wake up so early in the morning just to stand in a line?! The young man looked back at the passerby who had just asked him questions, “Ah, you must be new here. You sure are lucky to be here at such a time. Come, stand next to me while we talk.” The passerby shook his head and spoke politely, “I am here for other businesses, so I do not have that much time to spare. I am curious about what is going on here, but I’ll be on my way in a bit.” “What a pity, truly a pity. You got here at such a time where there is barely any people, yet you want to throw away such a Heaven-sent opportunity? I pity you.” The young man said while shaking his

Khadiza Begum Senior Fitzgerald High School As a student, it is a great honor to just be nominated as a candidate for the National Honor Society. It insists that I have been industrious throughout the past three years of high school– which I take great pride in. I have always shown my best even through my struggles.
In ancient China, each dynasty had contributed to building a wall to protect the borders. In the Qin dynasty, they built a 1,500-2500 miles long, part of the wall. This took from 221-206 BCE. Also, the Han dynasty had built a 4,000 mile long part of the wall. Which took from 206 BCE -220 CE (400 years).
Throughout history there have been many Queens. All over the world, many monarchies had an influence on their people. Such was the same during the 19th century in Hawaii. Before the United States took over, was Queen Liliuokalani. Queen Liliuokalani may be called a hero if we define the term as a person who, endowed with extraordinary qualities of heart and mind, determined to achieve a near impossible goal to restore monarchy powers and succeeds in the face of serious opposition against the United States.
Today, money has made many people believe that you need to have a lot of money to live a great, happy life. People in the world, especially the people who don’t have as much money as the ones that do, look up to people like popular idols, because they have money. People think they have a great living life with all the money they have earned during their lives. In the short story “Why You Reckon?” by Langston Hughes, the author uses diction, colloquialism and dialect to express the fact that just because people have the money to go out to eat somewhere expensive or buy the newest clothes, does not mean that a person is happy all the time and expresses how people in the town talks. Money is what makes the world goes round and everyone has come
The Mingo were a highly developed culture and though displaced by Europeans, they have retained many of their customs and beliefs. This Native American tribe continues to show many aspects of its ancestry through daily practices and its religious and social structures even with European influence and displacement to reservations. A part of everyday life for Mingo Indians was the clothes that they wore. The men of the tribe wore breechcloths with leggings, and the women of the tribe usually wore kilts, wore wraparound skirts, short leggings, and overdresses.
Recieveing this letter that I was inducted to be in the National Junior Honor Society made my heart beat faster than I’d ever keep track of, knowing that I was more of a gifted student. Every heart beat was building up my stimulation about this honor, telling me that I demonstrate scholarship, citizenship, character, leadership, and service. To know that I have all of those traits in me makes me feel more of a part of this society, and has made me begin to realize the considerable things that I’ve done. This oppertunity is great for me because I can expand my inner and outer school activities to show what great things I do in my time. I truly enjoy having a mental achievement in school, knowing that my grades sit at the top of the A’s shelf and hardly sit on level B.
Today I am deeply humbled to be recognized as a potential member of the National Honor Society. To me this means I have exemplified everything you look for in a student who goes above and beyond, not just in academics but in athletics, the community and at home as well. I have not taken this selection for granted, as I believe would be a great asset to the National Honor Society. I am hardworking, honest, reliable and quite charismatic too. I hold all the qualities required by the distinguished NHS like leadership, service, character and scholarship.
USNA Essay I never really considered attending the Naval Academy until a Navy coach contacted me. I initially dismissed the email, but then my dad talked to me about the academic excellence and character development of the Academy, so I looked into it. In April, I visited the Yard and witnessed the character of the Brigade and the dedication of each Midshipman to becoming the best version of him or herself in athletics, academics, character, and leadership. They all displayed remarkable integrity and were constantly striving for perfection in every action, and I immediately knew I wanted to be a part of that community that would develop my strength in mind, body, and spirit and teach me how to best to serve others. The short story, “The Rich Brother” accounts the journey of two brothers with great different personalities. After Donald, the younger naive religious brother, is kicked out of a communal farm, Pete, the older wealthier brother, goes to pick him up. Pete feels that Donald is too carefree, and that he always has to help him out of his mistakes. The tensions between these siblings are evident--they both feel that they need to prove themselves to each other; they need to provide evidence of their “prosperity” (Wolff 324). Pete more than Donald tends to always try to impress others, such as buying expressive items.
Personal Statement I would like to confirm that it is my motivating of Chinese culture that ignited my passion for cultural and creative industry. As a Tourism Management major student, I was able to explore the Chinese diversified cultures and landscapes, which offered me an insightful understanding of the Chinese cultural development. Under the guidance of commercialization, some cultural heritages have developed into huge tourism souvenir markets full of counterfeit and shoddy products. The over-commercialization reveals the fact that the Chinese culture is facing a severe situation. The country calls for a better cultural development strategy, which cultural and creative industry can offer.
The unlining philosophy throughout the “Tao Te Ching” advocates living a simple unfretted life as in the PU, the ‘Uncarved Block’, unmolded without specific form or structure. Within the entirety of this work he adopts unique sentence structures to un-structure the definitions of the world around us... as in Ying/ Yang. Many mistakenly believe that the Yin/Yang is a dualistic concept; male/ female, good/bad, right/wrong, black/white, beautiful/ugly… Indeed the Yin/Yang represents all that is and ever will be; as in the uncarved block. It is only when we can let go of these misconceived presuppositions that we find balance in our natural state; to ‘be’ as well as in the state of ‘being’... within all possibilities as in the examples below.
The noise the customers made was immense which reminded me how popular a place this is. I made my way to the coffee bar at the end of the shop made of reclaimed wood. A barista stood before me. He welcomed me with a charming smile. I got my cup of Americano and paid for it in the next counter.
The traditional Chinese cultures have a development process for thousand years, now we are creating another kind of traditional culture especially under the wave of globalization. Although the form of expressing or performing the culture experienced some changes but the basic idea and belief behind rarely changed.
