Dear Generation X Member: (I just changed this from “Service Learning Partner” because I thought that was who we were. If anyone has an idea how to word it better go ahead-Anna)

Over 2.6 million volunteers have served through United Way in some capacity to better their local communities through numerous partner organizations. They focus on what they call the "building blocks," which includes education, income, and health, all working together to improve the lives of everyone they interact with. United Way realizes that everyone has different needs; whether it is sacrificing time or resources and gives ways for everyone to make an impact.
While United Way serves all over the world, United Way of Abilene focuses on 19 West Texas counties. United Way of Abilene partners with numerous local and global companies that perform varied services which includes the Alzheimer 's Association, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Boys & Girls club, and many more. Many people have a desire to make a difference in the lives around them, but do not know how to take that first step. United Way is able to bridge that gap in order to mobilize volunteers to improve their communities.
In order to raise awareness for United Way of Abilene and their purpose, we are putting on a charity concert that is funded by donations from the community and by donations from partner organizations and companies. Current and prospective partner companies and organizations are invited to attend, as are members of the community by purchasing a
As you know, a strong community is built upon its caring residents who reach out in times of need – who work together – who choose to LIVE UNITED. You and your employees have reached out to those in need through your past gift of $200.00 to the United Way of the Greater Dayton Area Ernst Fluid Power’s campaign. I sincerely thank you for your generosity. Your gift enables United Way of the Greater Dayton Area to fund 48 agencies and 100 programs that address the vital needs of those affected by the economic downturn within our community. And because of those continued needs, United Way is committed to seeking collaborative solutions with the for-profit and non-profit community in order to continue our mission of making significant strides

I see the value in contributing time and work to an organization that helps others in need. Many people depend on food donations and the service and work provided by many people of the organization are making positive impact in the
The organization, which I decided to volunteer two hours of my day to, was Cumac. Cumac is located in Paterson, New Jersey and they work to serve the people in the counties of Passaic, Paterson, and Northern New Jersey. They work with a staff of 21 and volunteers from all over to help people in need with food and supplies they would need to survive. Their mission statement is: “CUMAC feeds people and changes lives. It works to alleviate hunger and its root causes for those in need in Paterson, Passaic County, and northern New Jersey.”
Introduction The Dallas-area is home to a great majority of the Texas population. Citizens in the Dallas region are a unique and very powerful part of our Texas community and it is vital that we, as Texans, must protect our valuable ecosystem. As members of the JCPenney community outreach program, we strive to incorporate new ideas to help our metroplex thrive and grow. It is important to JCPenney to promote social responsibility and sustain community engagement among the Dallas area. We have designed an innovative way to aid the homeless within our greater Dallas area.
I. Attention Grabber: Safety and shelter. These are two very basic needs that many of us take for granted. But sadly these two needs are denied to many women and children within our community. II. Thesis: Domestic violence twists the lives of many women and children within our community, but through donations to The Shade Tree, we can help these victims and survivors gain control over their own lives and feel safe again.
Home Depot had a clear understanding of its various stakeholders and developed a strong commitment and relationship with its employees, customers, suppliers, communities, and the environment. Home Depot believed that most environmental groups were extremely powerful and had legitimate concerns for protecting the environment. Despite Home Depots belief that environmental groups had an important degree of power, they were not primary stakeholders for Home Depot. Environmental groups can be extremely vocal and they can damage a company because they often encounter negative press, but ultimately they had no impact on whether Home Depot would or would not survive as a company in the economy. Nicole Aldana FHS 215 Karrie Walters October 28, 2015 Site Report: Boys and Girls Club The human service organization I chose for this assignment was the Boys and Girls Club of Emerald Valley. While there were a number of equally amazing organizations on the list, it really came down to my personal experience with this institute. During my senior year of high school, I made it a goal to partake in as many community service opportunities as I could. Coming from a big city, there was no shortage of these and after a few months of searching it led me to the Boys and Girls Club and a few other non-profits.
Currently, nonprofit organizations are the fastest growing organization in the World. They only date back to the 1970s. They can range from being owned by one person and little products going out, to them being multibillion dollar foundations. Most nonprofit organizations provide goods and services like charitable, educational, and religious ones (Hall par. 3). Services are meant to meet the needs of the people and help the surrounding communities like providing food, helping animals, and protecting the environment (Ingram par.
The volunteers are similar to the volunteers I work with every day at City Year. Everyone comes from different states and different cultures, but we are all share the same purpose. That purpose is to bridge the gap in the education
Although most of my involvement has centered around politics, where I have been an active volunteer in the current election cycle, my service also extends to the homeless community in the Quad Cities. After recognizing the extent of homelessness in Davenport, my friend decided to start a nonprofit 5K to benefit a local shelter and I immediately joined in the venture. By working with the shelter rather than independently, we were able to avoid the faults set forth in To Hell With Good Intentions. Our good intentions have donated over $10,000 to King’s Harvest Ministries, who uses funds in a way that raises the standard of living for the local homeless
Over half of all soup kitchens, food pantries and meal programs rely entirely on volunteers. And when you give your time, you get back something amazing in return: The feeling that you are helping families who need it. No matter what happens in the world, you absolutely have the power to make a difference. And now, thanks to a generous donor, each pledge can be matched with $1 to help provide 11 meals up to $20,000.
Growing up in church I have had several opportunities to give back to my community. I’ve had the privilege of being the Emmanuel Baptist Church youth president throughout my high school and freshman year of college. Throughout these years, I was involved in several activities which include food baskets given out to the community in the months of November and December. Additionally, we started up a sock and slipper drive during the month of December to be given to residents at a nursing home. Our youth group also had an annual Valentine’s Day project; we would bake cookies and deliver a bag to every house in our
