North Carolina colony with it 's extended ocean line, valuable natural resources, and temperate climate, make it very valuable for England. The extended coastline stretches for many miles and could be used for a port receiving cargo and passenger ships from the mainland. The existence of the mountains provides the colony with a decent amount of natural resources. The climate is very good for the agricultural development of the colony. All these factors make a North Carolina colony a great place to consider for the British empire. There are no other colonies in North America that have such unique water system. North Carolina has three river systems that are beneficial. All of these three river systems are for medium and small ships which …show more content…
First of all this land is full of different types of mineral. Mountains give to colony more than 150 kinds of minerals: among them gold, silver and copper; it can help with weapon power and money. Appalachians mountains have very large deposits of marl near them, sow we can build a lot of cities. The author of «School History of North Carolina» emphasizes, «Of all resources for wealth this is the most durable; and... is best calculated to promote the happiness of man.» . There are a lot of big forests in North Carolina which can be very important and very useful for the colony. The area of all the forests is about 1.1 millions of acres and it 's tones of wood. Not less important is that forests are homes and habitat for thousands of animals. As a conclusion I can say that forests will save colony in bad times or help to grow up and become better. Animals and fish in North Carolina will provide colony with food and clothes for many years. Mammals will be the main suppliers of meat because in North Carolina there about 25 types of them. Reptiles can be a problem for the humans, their habitat is present in some forests and in most of the rivers. As noted by John Lawson "And at present the Curious may have a large field to satisfy and divert themselves in, as Collections of strange Beasts, Birds, Insects, Reptiles, Shells, Fishes, Minerals, Plants, Shrubs, intricate Roots, Gums, Tears, …show more content…
It will be important to say that climate in the colony is very good for people 's life length and health. As Mr. Holleman, a journalist for ,,The progressive farmer", writes in his article: "Life without health, or the hope of it, is hardly worth living. Health and happiness go hand in hand , and are attainable in a high degree except under favorable natural conditions." The temperature in this region is not too cold and not too hot, not too wet and not dry. In this case Appalachian Mountains protect the colony from cold and dry north wind but if these mountains did not exist in North Carolina it would have been twice as cold and very dry. John Lawson agrees, "As to the climate, it is very healthful;...neither are we ever visited by Earthquakes." The Climate is ideal for growing crops and farming. Gulf Stream smoothes the climate that help plants with the transition of seasons. Winters are not so cold, frosts do not remain on the ground for more than 2-3 days. The average of the rain fall is about fifty inches but the most important fact is that it is evenly distributed throughout the year. Such a good climate leads to a beautiful plant life. The location of this colony is in between north and south, so it makes temperatures perfect as a prove there are a lot of forests that grow very
Many people in the southern colonies owned plantations, which slaves did most of the labor. (“Maryland Colony”) Britain relied on the colonies as source of raw materials, such as lumber and tobacco. It was important for the province to export these resources. (“The American
There were also many ocean products in the New England colonies that they traded. If there were other things that also has to do with trading, then find it right in front of you. The rocky New England trading This is the Triangular Trade route as it shows as triangle
The middle colonies had a wide range of terrains from coastal beaches to soaring mountains that lied inland. The wide range allowed the middle colonies to have a unique and diverse economy. For instance its costal shore was optimal for harbors and docks. Also due to its location between the southern and New England colonies it made it a prime spot for reaching all 13 colonies. Its rich soil allowed farmers to plant a variety of crops.
In the 16th the American colonies, governments took three courses, all based on English traditions. The colonies became a testing ground for developing governments, from which the founders drew heavily when they enlisted the United States Constitution. At the base of each colony was its charter, a written agreement between the dependency and the queen of England (or with Parliament in the case of George), which authorized its existence and set up rules of procedure. The three figures of colonial governments were: Royal Colonies, Proprietary Colonies, and Charter Colonies. I will compare and contrast two regions were known as Southerners and the New England areas.
The harbors, bays, and rivers could all be used as transportation hubs for troops and supplies in order to protect our most useful resources. Because of the moderate climate, the soldiers would use less of their energy during battle. The economic characteristics of the middle colonies could be of great use during the war with France. The benefits of resources include lumber and iron to build weapons.
While the Southern Colonies were known for having numerous plantations, they had few towns and cities. Plantation owners wanted to use as much land as possible for growing cash crops and were not interested in building towns. However, by the mid 1700s, settlements along the Atlantic coast grew into large towns. These large towns all had the same thing in common--good harbors for trade. Port cities became popular when both buyers and sellers needed a place to exchange goods.
Timothy Maxey Mr, Brown Geography 12/4/15 North Carolina “The fabric of North Carolina and what makes our state so special is our families and our common desire for a brighter future for our children. No matter what your family looks like, we all want the same thing for our families - happiness, health, prosperity, a bright future for our children and grandchildren.” I will be talking about North Carolina’s state symbols, Cultural Geography, History, Sites, Points of Interest, and Physical Geography.
When originally coming to North America, the Atlantic Ocean served as a disadvantage and decelerated the growth of the colonies. Although the Atlantic connected Colonial America to the Old World, it also served as a barrier between the two. With the ocean nearby, colonists had access to goods such as tea, steel, and manufactured products; as a result, this usually kept colonists close to
The New England colonies were first founded in the last 16th to 17th century as a sanctuary for differing religious groups. New England was made up of the Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, and New Hampshire. New Hampshire, however, was formed for economic reasons instead of religious ones. The Chesapeake region, which is made up of the colonies of Maryland and Virginia, was founded by the British colonies for the purpose of farming. However, by the 1700’s, despite both being settled by Englishmen, New England and the Chesapeake region had developed differently.
They were getting away from issues they had experienced in England, which took into consideration colonists to be similar. As stated previously, the opportunities that the colonists in the New England settlements and the Chesapeake region colonies were
The North had cold winters and hot summers compared to the South. Many Northern states like Maine had really short growing times and long, cold winters that were bad for crops. The more Southern states like Ohio were better for crops as they had a longer growing season. The geography of

The New England and Chesapeake colonies were established during the early 1700s. Despite the population originating from England, the regions had distinct societies. This was due to the fact that many settlers voyaged to the New World in search of riches, to seek new lives, or for religious freedom. They differed socially, politically, economically, and geographically.
Most of the colonies in America were settled by the English, which makes them similar in many designs. However, there are a few aspects that differentiate between colonies, such as in the Chesapeake and New England regions. Reasons for settlement, religions, and geography all played an important role in the development of colonies in these regions. These conditions were natural and mostly subject to circumstances and conditions that were unchangeable. Nonetheless, no matter the modest causes, the effects were very substantial in helping to develop the uniqueness of each region.
This group project on one of the 13 original colonies has taught me a lot on colonial Connecticut. I learned about the main engine that was running its economy, which consisted of infrastructure and manufacturing. This was because the climate in Connecticut was too cold and the soil was too rocky for agriculture. I also learned about religion in Connecticut. The main religious groups were puritans and unlike some states, the puritans did not believe in religious freedom.
