I would be able to support North Carolina State University’s mission and values because of my unique experiences through my undergraduate work, personal interests, and professional values. As an undergraduate student, I took on the role of becoming a student ambassador. A student ambassador is someone who is chosen to represent the school and its values. Student ambassadors are responsible for giving tours and assisting families in their college decision. In this position, I was able to truly understand what a college values and seeks in prospective students. This role specifically helped me to become the best example for my school, both academically and professionally. This role taught me inclusivity, respect, integrity, and a collaborative spirit. I have been fortunate to enjoy an academic environment that encourages unbridled expression and intellectual exploration both in the classroom and outside. I have been encouraged by my professors to seek answers to my questions through personal research, and have been provided with the necessary resources to act. When conducting my research I have been encouraged to treat everything and everyone I work with, with integrity and respect. In my capstone research, I worked with the campus equines. My main goal was to ensure the equines were comfortable, relaxed, and calm during my data collection. Ultimately, treating animals with respect and integrity. I also value excellence as I complete research studies, prepare for exams, and hold leadership positions. As a dedicated student who is not afraid of a challenge, I have taken tremendous course loads, above the maximum, to fulfill my desire to learn.
