Before Korea was split into two nations it was occupied by the Japanese, however this was overturned when the Soviets declared war on Japan. To avoid this, the Japanese were forced to leave Korea and leave it under the Soviets and the US. After the Japanese were exiled, Korea was split into two sections by a border line called the 38th parallel. The North were under the influence of the Soviets which ruled under communism. On the other hand were the South which ruled under a provisional government from the US. This agreement from both nations only lasted several years when 75000 North Korean soldiers initiated the Korean War when they crossed over the 38th parallel which separated the South from the North on June 25th, 1950. The war was provoked due to the different perspectives on their government ruling, however the main reason was because of the global tensions from the cold war. On the surface, the Korean War seemed to be a war between North and South Korea, but superpowers of the world were just using it to confront each other without actually going into a war for their nation. After three years of killing, the nations agreed to an armistice bringing the invasions to an end. However a peace …show more content…
In the case where reunification may eventually occur is when the economy of North Korea completely collapses similar to what happened in the Soviet Union. When that happens, South Korea will have no choice but to unite with the North. People have hypothesised that the starvation in North Korea is an indication that the destruction of the North Korean economy is inevitable. To achieve this aim, South Korea should thrive to avoiding future disagreements that may provoke the North into triggering another war, until the North Korean economy collapses. By doing this, the South will be able to take advantage of the destruction of the North and completely abolish communism from
The Korean War was a proxy war fought between the United States and the USSR, for the purpose of gaining power and political influence in other parts of the world. Since the end of WWII, the USSR and the United States became very hostile against one another, creating what came to be called “The Cold War“ coined by Bernard Baruch in 1947 from the lack of there ever being direct battles against one another. From the result of the bitter and cold rivalry between the United States and the Soviet Union came a large chain of indirect battling over political influence in developing or war-torn countries. As this feud occurred the people of the United States mainly wanted there to be a change in Korea out of this war [Doc E], but what was occurring
Following WWII, the Allied powers split up the Korean peninsula similarly to how Germany had been divided, with the Soviets controlling the North and the US controlling the South. This led to a communist North Korea and non-communist South Korea, and when these two wanted to unify, both wanted to do so on their premises. The North, then attacked the South to take over as a way to unify, leading to a war between the two. The US, as well as other countries, entered the conflict between the nations in order to combat or advocate for the spread of communism. The United States, one of the countries opposing communism under was led at this time by President Harry Truman.
South Korea didn’t want to be a contribution to communism, where North Korea believed that communism was the solution to all problems. This invasion caused and all out war the involved many other countries like Russia and the US. As stated in “Document C”, Russia’s job was to help North Korea and promote their communists government, where the US was there to help South Korea promote their capitalism. Several years after continuously fighting on whether Korea should have a communist or capitalists government, the war finally ended. The country is still divided today and North Korea still remains communists leaving the US failing to stop communism.
Following WWII, in 1945, the division of Korea was initiated. The Soviet Union established a pro-communist government on the Northside of Korea and Americans created a pro-democratic government on the Southside of Korea. After the division, known as the 38th parallel, occurred, North Korea began to attack again. This attack consisted of both the South and North pushing each other farther from the 38th parallel until the Chinese troops drove them back to the 38th parallel. The United States and The Soviet Union knew the war was not going anywhere but still persisted to continue.
‘Under the leadership of the U.S, the South Korean forces pushed the invaders past the originally established 38th parallel, to the Yalu River that bordered the People's Republic of China (P.R.C). After which, the P.R.C quickly counter attacked and, after 2 years of futile war at the 38th parallel, agreed to the original border.’ (Crash Course, 2013). These excerpts from this source represent the widely accepted reasoning behind the actions that transpired during the war and indicate further information about the events within it. Evidence from both Professor Lee and Crash Course reveal the causes of the Korean War and the reasons for its proxy of the Cold War status.
On June 25, 1950, the Korean War began between the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, North Korea, and the Republic of Korea, South Korea. This has reached international proportions since the spark of war. Concerned that the Soviet Union and Communist China may have encouraged this invasion, the United States became involved. After the Empire’s defeat, it forced them to split into North and South Korea. Soviet forces settled in North Korea while American troops moved to the south of the Korean peninsula. The United States on the side of South Korea decided to establish a democratic republic commission that was meant to oversee the election scheduled in 1948.
Looking back sixty three years ago on July 27th 1953 marked the armistice signing of the Korean War. Three years prior to the cease fire order there was a vicious war between North Korean and South Korean. Korean was divided by the aftermath of the war. South Korea was modernized post-war with the help of the US. The North Korean economy was able to recover of being supported and dependent on Russia post-war, but when the Soviet Union collapsed, the country went into crisis. A ceasefire was signed, without the South Korean president, and consequently, both countries are still at war.
The Impending Second Korean War The United States of America is not on very good terms with North Korea; however, the nation is attempting to make peace with those across the Pacific Ocean through many forms although many have failed. One such example is how both the North and the South formed the “North-South communiqué” in order to increase communication between the two estranged countries (Walkom). On the other hand, if all does not work out between the U.S. and North Korea, the war is not all bad. If we do carry out a war with a massive ground invasion, then we could free the Korean people from generations of bondage.
They wanted to rid the Korean Peninsula of all western influence. The north wanted to unite the two sides, but the two sides had already established their own government so the north wanted to take the south with force because they did not cooperate with the north's government policies.. In the end, the north could neither rid the western influence nor the unification of both nations. The war officially began, “ On June 25, 1950[when]

In 1945, the peninsula was divided into two which was North Korea the communist state, and South Korea was non-communist state.
