The Civil War, which took place from 1861 to 1865, was a important time in American history. It had a impact on the nation, paving a new way the political, social, and economic ways of the country after the war. One of the most interesting aspects (I think so) of the Civil War is the different viewpoints held by Northerners and Southerners about the causes and outcomes of the war and battles. Northerners thought that the Civil War was fought to preserve the Union, to prevent the secession of the Southern states from the United States. But Southerners believed that the Civil War was fought for states' rights and the preservation of a unique Southern way of life. The south viewed the Confederacy as a rebellious group that had no real claim to independence. To each other, the south and north they were sub-categories who felt the other one was below. The south wanted to erase laws because it didn’t benefit them, and some were against slavery. The south would feel divided from the US if they wouldn't listen to their opinions about the laws.
