What I have learned this year is how to do Now-Next rules, Systems of Equations, and Exponential Growth and Decay. Concepts that I feel most confident about is doing Dependent and Independent Variables, Now-Next Rules, and Writing Symbolic rules. Concepts that I feel least confident about would be doing Linear Functions, solving Systems of Equations, and Laws of Exponents. My strength as a learner is that I organize my things such as writing down dates of when tests are coming and taking down notes. I am a person with integrity when it comes to doing my own work, and I am self-disciplined. I keep myself from trying to procrastinate. Instructional strategies that are working very well for me is thinking, pairing, and sharing. I like how we
This semester I also learned how to word rules with right way more and how to be specific with procedures. I made a mock classroom policy about a year ago and after that lesson I made modifications to it. I got excited because it was part of our discipline 2, and I got more feedback on which I need another eye to look at for me. I took the comments and made more to policy and proud of my end product.
I learned how to formulate a restricted, unified, and precise thesis statement. I am now able to organize essay content into introduction, body and conclusion paragraphs. I also learned how to construct and organize unified, coherent, and well-developed paragraphs. I am able to apply grammar and usage rules correctly and develop clear, concise sentences. I learned about parallelism, run-on, comma splices and sentences.
At home procrastination is the leading struggle I have academically. I am Auttiana Rackley and I attend Akron Early College High School. Being here, it feels like neverending homework. During my classes, I am very focused and I complete school work with no complaints. When study hauls is in action, I use ALL of my time wisely.
If I knew that I would be away from home all day at a marching band competition on Saturday, then I would need to schedule time during the week and Sunday to work on projects or studying for tests. I could no longer procrastinate until the last minute, or I would end up getting only one or two hours of sleep. Because of marching band, I changed my habits of procrastination and transformed into a schedule-oriented
Wayne Gretzky once said… “Procrastination is one of the most common and deadliest of diseases and its toll on success and happiness is heavy.” Many people should take advice like that to heart, but I was one of those people who regret not taking it. Intermittently my mom would knock on my door and ask, “Have you started your homework?” I would reply each time without hesitation, “Not yet
4.1 “just do it”. I spend majority of my time just thinking about how I am going to get the assignment done. By the time I start the assignment it feels like I been working on it forever, when in reality I just started. When am given an assignment I need to work on it as soon as I find free time. “to eat an elephant, first cut it into same pieces”.
I have learned great time management skills, I learned different ways of studying material to be able to understand it, I have learned to never give up and the work you put into something results in the outcome. I have gained many experiences by attending different colleges and learning from different instructors in different formats. I have gained experiences personally from life events that have given me the drive and motivation I have today. I have completed my BSN program all online so I have great experience with online programs.
Although my classes just began, this advice has me positive that I will succeed in my classes as I have already incorporated them into my schoolwork. In addition, I was given ample instruction on
I learned a lot of things about myself like how I really know more than I thought I knew about Basketball. I learned that I knew what a starting lineup is and what kind of plays to run and which person belong in which position. I also learned that I knew what plays are designed for which player and what that person supposed to do when he get the
I learned what it took to be successful, that I couldn 't just go through the motions. I learned one of the most important lessons of my college career thus far, and it is this- in order to be successful here (at Texas A&M), you must immerse yourself in every lesson, every lecture, every class. Everything must be 100%, and not a second should go to waste. Each moment is a moment to learn and to better yourself and your knowledge. There will be concepts that you just don 't understand, and when that road block is reached, immediate action must be taken; there 's a commonly spoken line that I never really listened to until recently, and that line is, "don 't be afraid to ask for help!"
The lesson that College 101 taught me that helped me most, was the lesson on how to avoid procrastination. I have struggled with procrastination all throughout high school. Learning how to avoid procrastination will help me all throughout college and will help me when I have a job. It will teach me to do things on time and early, so that I am fully prepared to succeed. Another skill that helped me tremendously, is learning how to properly take notes.
First, you must recognize that we humans are like sponges that absorb every liquid around them. So those whom we hang around with can influence us in the matter of procrastination. (You remember what I said about this in Chapter 4 about how your associates can make it either easy or difficult for you to overcome procrastination?) How I wish you could hang out with Bill Gates or Elon Musk. I tell you; just 15 minutes with those guys might give you all the inspiration that will take you away from procrastination for life.
Incorporating my learning style in with another makes improving in that area less of a struggle, so I have also found that taking notes, or simply doodling on paper helps me focus more in class. These are two easy strategies I have discovered that help me become a more successful student and person. Aside from the ways I have started adapting, I am committed to enhancing my learning through just two simple tasks: rewriting notes with a splash of color and utilizing flash-cards when I study. Rewriting my notes in color, or by memory, will encourage me to memorize important details and even visualize my notes while taking a quiz or test; I will have no problem with this as it is something I already try to do. Utilizing flash-cards is where I may encounter my procrastination tendency,
Typically I wait until the last minute to do something. This often works but it is really stressful and probably not the best thing to do. Sometimes I will just never do the assignment. To improve these habits i'm going to start setting the deadline for these assignments an few days earlier then they are assigned. This way I can make myself do it before its due.
It involves setting goals and managing your time. Developing my motivation and concentration skills will help me to overcome the lure of procrastination. Effective self-management will help me to avoid stress and provide me with more opportunities to get times to finish my
