For the purpose of this discussion, I will evaluate the core competency of quality and how I will integrate this behavior into my daily practice.
In the clinical setting, the nurses’ expertise can be used to make clinical assessments and recommendations for routine care at a lower cost than a physician visit. This would increase the number of patients seen and increase the quality of the care provided. The advance practice nurse would be able to hone in on preventative measures and increase patient education. The advance practice nurse can also make recommendations about practice changes needed to facilitate better health outcomes through the use of evidence-based practice. Nursing leaders are aware of how important nursing science is to provide needed evidence to transform practice, even though, finding the time and resources to support any research activity is often challenging (Stone, 2017).

Although an evidence-based practice may be well documented and proven to positively, impact patient care, organizational structure and culture may present barriers to change. For example, financial constraints, tradition, or attitudes of leadership may hinder the implementation of evidence-based practice (Huber, 2014). Change agents or opinion leaders can influence the promotion and adoption of nursing evidence-based practice through creativity and persistence (Huber, 2014).
What is Evidence-based practice? Evidence-based practice is an all-around systematic approach to patient care that was built up on research and proven treatment results within nursing in order to increase the patient outcomes. Evidence based practice is define as “the integration of current evidences and practices to make decisions about patient care”. (Medical Surgical Nursing, 2018).
