In today’s ultramodern era nurse’s role has become increasingly involved with managing people, change, budgets, policies, standards and audits. Good leadership and management skills are essential for nurse managers in today’s health care environment. The nurse managers provide practical support for the other nursing staff in their daily work. The Nurse Managers play a critical role because they influence the success of the health care organisation as well as the health care team members. According to Linda Everett, “The important role of the nurse manager is the provision of effective and high quality care in any patient in the health care delivery setting. The individual is actually the C.E.O. of that clinical area and she/he is accountable and responsible for the patient safety and quality of care. This includes all of the nurse sensitive indicators by regulating and accrediting bodies; patient satisfaction and financial performance. In addition to that, the nurse manager should represent the direct caregiver voice at nursing leadership decision tables”.
