Every person has a different passion and reason they want to be what they want to be. While some people may want to work as a doctor in trauma, I want to become a nurse practitioner and work in some type of pediatric field. Yet, becoming a nurse practitioner is not that simple.

For my senior project I job shadowed a registered nurse on the Acute Rehab floor at Mercy General Hospital. My goals for senior project were to learn the basic skills a nurse needs to help a patient and to learn how to interact with different types of personalities. My mentor for my project was Michelle Whitten, she has been a nurse for two and a half years. Michelle has a B.S in nursing and a B.A in human development. My patients have things as routine as check-ups and immunizations, to my diagnosing life-changing diseases. I think having proper documentations will inform employers more about the immigrant nurses. Immigrant nurses should be up to date on their immunizations and how to follow the US's laws and regulations. Where they come from will help employers do some research on how much the nurses know and the differences between their country's laws and regulations. I do think it is a tad bit disappointing that there is currently a shortage on nurses but I am not worried.
