I decided to observe the interaction of ones at a nursing home. This particular day I was extremely bored at work. That tends to happen when it 's close to the end of the month. My mom and I decided to visit my grandmother who resides at the Memphis Jewish Home. We parked and did not get out immediately. My mom needed to finish her conversation with my sister-in-law. As I was waiting I see a white Altima pull in a parking space crookedly. I thought she would have tried to straighten up but she didn 't. She opened her door and put one foot out. She’s wearing a dirty sneaker. Before she fully gets out, she reaches over to the passenger side. I guess she’s getting something out. I was right. She has a plastic grocery bag with sub sandwiches. As she walks across …show more content…
I look back and mom is still conversing with the nurse. I figure they 've moved on to another topic. Both of their expressions are very relaxed. They are smiling and laughing. Mom is using a lot of gestures. Behind them and see an older African American lady walking. She 's using a walker. Also a nurse is guiding her. Her hand is on the small of her back and the other is on her right forearm. The lady has gotten tired, because when they came to a chair she sits down. My mom is finished. She walks towards me with a smile on her face. I get up and we head to my grandmother’s room. Granny is sitting in her wheelchair. She looks good today. When she sees us, a huge smile lights her face. “Hey mom.” “Hey Granny.” I give granny a hug and go sit in the chair. My gives granny a hug and sits on the edge of the bed, Mom smiles endearingly at granny and it’s heartwarming. She takes granny 's hand and massages it. Then she moves the bangs out of her eyes. Granny looks up at her and smiles. Mom and granny talk. I can tell that it is an uncomfortable subject because granny just gets kind of quiet and then goes “I don 't know”. In the car, my parents occupy the front driver and passenger seats, my brother sits next to the window behind my mother and I sit behind my father, which leaves the middle seat for my nanny to take up.

I soon see the green look of plants in front of my grandparents’ unit and follow the black and white tiles on the ground till I see the long cream colored metallic door of their unit. My grandmother opens the door with a super bright and warm smile and I see my grandfather slowly following her to the door while fixing his belt. They don’t usually get to see my dad around so they want to seem super formal. We do the whole kissing on cheek and greeting thing and sit on the new brown colored set of their couches. My mom takes off her hijab and goes to kitchen and calls us to go there with her to help my grandma bring fruits, tea and sweets.
My mother led the way, within each step her footsteps hit the ceramic floor with more frequency. She confidently walked toward the kitchen. My mother’s expression conveyed slight excitement however, I could see her eyes begin to twinkle with tears and turn a rose red color.
