Experience can be realized in many ways other than just with a real patient who may suffer for the ignorance of their nurse. Integrative nursing education should not be limited to academia. Nurses should have the opportunity to practice scenarios in a safe teaching learning environment, so that they could develop their practice. Several hospitals that I have worked for over the years have integrated simulation training into their new hire RN education and more specifically for their new graduate RN nurses. This large investment in the development of our newer nurse will improve the care at the bed side, reduce the incidence of errors and improve job satisfaction.
Hi Katherine, I agree that leadership and management program are a great part of a nursing school since we need to continue to be a role model for new nurses entering the career not only to teach them nursing skills need in the profession, but also to encourage them to further their education like we are doing it.
This incorporates the use of information technology in the direct provision of care, in creating effective administration systems, in managing and delivering education and supporting ongoing learning, and in promoting nursing research. The future is likely to bring more technological power that will yield a vast quantity of information and stored data. The healthcare sector is likely to benefit from modeling systems, decision support systems, expert systems and artificial intelligence. However, the greatest benefits shall not come from the individual tools but from the information made available by these technologies. As such, to advance the specialty, the nursing and midwifery councils in all states must be committed to ongoing education and professional development.
As a collaboration the organizations are able to implement knowledge to improve daily care plans. The National Association of Neonatal Nurses serves nurses and nursing students by providing lifelong learning and education for both parties because of the evolution in medicine and health care. It encompasses the need for responsibility of education and research from college level students to professionalism in the healthcare
The metaparadigm of nursing is one concept that nurses learn in a baccalaureate level of education. On this article, there is an emphasis on recognizing nursing as a profession that involves abstract thought processing rather than a job that demands skills and service delivery. Compared to undergraduate nurses, BSNs are taught the metaparadigm concept in order to expand ones’ knowledge beyond the walls of clinical bedside care and into the world of research and theoretical thinking. This article covers differentiated practice competencies between ADN and BSN level graduates. Overall, it is clear that transitioning from ADN to BSN requires proficiency in leadership, communication, professionalism, public health and evidence-based practice.
Professional Organization 1. State the mission of the organization. The mission of the American Association of Colleges of Nursing is to serve as the collective voice for academic nursing in order to set the standard of excellence and innovation in nursing education, research, and practice. The AACN works to establish quality standards for nursing education and assists schools in implementing those standards. They also influence the nursing profession to improve health care and promote public support for professional nursing education, research, and practice.
Informatics continues to grow and plays a major part of the healthcare system. It is vital for all healthcare providers to have at least a basic understanding of informatics. Patient safety is the number one goal in healthcare, it is drilled into your heads while in nursing school. So, it is not surprising to see it be a major focus in the role informatics plays. One aspect that we will focus on is how nursing informatics helps reduce nosocomial infections, specifically catheter-associated urinary tract infections (CAUTI’s).

So it will be important for me to stay mindful of that as I further my education. Academic Goal The academic goal I have set forth is to do my very best in all my courses only A’s and B’s. This way I will have increased my odds in being accepted into multiple nursing programs so I can take the right step in achieving my first career goal as an ER rn . I believe this is a realistic goal as long I apply myself and stay dedicated I know I can reach that goal. My motivation is intrinsic because I hold myself to a high standard and I expect a lot of myself.
The advancement in medical science, technology and complexity of the current patient care, demands the nurses to be prepared with the knowledge and skills in Assessment and Intervention, Effective Communication, Critical Thinking, Patient Relationship, Leadership, Management and Teaching. As the required competency increases, the curriculum needs to prepare the nursing graduates to have these core competencies as outlined by COPA model (Competency Outcomes and Performance Assessment)” (Lenburg, 1999 a, b). The BSN curriculum is tailored to accommodate these professional development requirements, the modern era demands that incorporate a broad scope of practice, giving a better edge in competency compared to an ADN, especially in Critical Thinking. A noteworthy point is that the differences in clinical competencies of a BSN and ADN are few compared to management, leadership, decision making and communication competencies. The BSN course gives the students more exposure in nursing practices than an ADN.
