Obesity is a problem not only in America but all over the world. Obesity is most focused in America because of all the fast food restaurants there are and people not getting enough physical activity. Obesity is a medical condition in which excess body fat has gathered to the extent that it may have a negative effect on health, leading to reduced life expectancy and, or increased health problems. Obesity doesn’t occur just in adults but as well as children, college students and pets. And the fact that there is no help from the government to stop this growing epidemic. Some of the health effects of being obese or overweight include: Coronary Heart Disease, Cancer, High Blood Pressure, Osteoarthritis, Stroke, Sleep Apnea, Type 2 Diabetes, Obesity Hypoventilation Syndrome, Gallstones, Abnormal Blood Fats, Metabolic Syndrome, and Reproductive Problems. Coronary Heart Disease and strokes are caused when a waxy substance called plaque clogs your arteries. When overweight adults are more at risk for getting colon, breast, endometrial, and gallbladder cancer. Abdominal blood fats include high levels of triglycerides and LDL (bad) cholesterol and low levels of HDL (good) cholesterol. Osteoarthritis is …show more content…

For example, in elementary school you could either bring a lunch or the school would provide a lunch. About fifty percent of kids eat the lunches from the school. These meals might include: pizza, corn dogs, chicken nuggets, chocolate milk, and cookies. These good are not healthy and the food the schools provide plays a huge factor in child obesity. Has the government fixed this problem? Another example is fast food restaurants. There are so many different types of places to choose where to eat, all unhealthy, and loaded with calories. Why doesn’t the government have a rule on how many chains they can have in one state? These are some the most important questions
