The Coca-Cola Company, headed by Muhtar Kent is an American multinational beverage company.. The company focuses on non-alcoholic beverage concentrates and syrups. Its headquarters is stationed at Atlanta, Georgia. It has its customers in more than 200 countries. Its flagship product Coca-Cola was originally invented by John Stith Pemberton which was later bought by Asa Griggs Candler, an amazing marketer who led Coke to become the brand that it is today. Sales of the first year amounted to 50 dollars. The ironical part was the first year of sales was a loss. The soft drink , initially marketed as a tonic contained extracts of cocaine and caffeine rich kola nut.
The company produces sugar concentrate. This is sold to licensed bottlers throughout the world. The bottlers then produce the finished product combining it with filtered water and sweeteners. Selling, distribution and merchandising to retail stores and vending machines is done after this. Other products of the Coca-Cola Company include Diet-Coke, Coca-Cola Cherry, Coca-Cola vanilla and special editions with lime or coffee.
In 2012, the net operating revenue and operating income was $48 billion and $11 billion respectively despite the economic turbulence. It is safe to term Coca-Cola as a normal good as its demand increases as the consumer’s income increases.
