Reflection
First of all, I would like to thank the teachers at the centre for their cooperation and help though not much information they can share with me. Nevertheless, I appreciated their willingness to help me in this task. In the process of completing my assignments, I faced few challenges and obstacles. One of them is time factor as most of the time the teachers are busy with their lessons. The only possible time we can chit chat is only during the snack break. Even then it is only five to ten minutes. There is no helper or cleaning lady to assist in the kindergarten. The teachers have to clean up the mess cause by the children. Spills or diaper leaks, the teacher has to handle the washing herself. So, I decided to come in very early in the morning. I usually clock in at 7.30am to chat with them. I will look into the children’s work and asked them what theme or topics how they going to teach. Here and there I pick up each Puzzle’s pieces and put it together to figure out the picture. At first, I felt the constraint of space. With two tables and chairs, there is hardly any space for movement not to mention I have put in another table as the seating of the children is too crowded. There is no table for the teacher. I learned why. Apparently, the teacher just needs a small chair to sit nearby the computer table to click on the mouse. Other times the teacher sits among the children to guide them on their reinforcement practice. I am starting to enjoy teaching in a small class with a small number of children. I was able to quickly memorize their names. The children are more focused and each child receives my attention.
