For my observation, I have decided to observe the amount of time my siblings socialize, and use electronics at home. The setting will take place at my house. I will mostly be observing in the living room, because that is where my siblings usually hang out. I will be observing my two brothers, one who's eleven years old, and the other who's fifteen years old. I chose this simple observation because I see my brothers everyday, so I think it is going to be easy. I also chose this observation specifically because nowadays, siblings do not really communicate with eachother as much as before. My observation will help me find out if the reason there is less communication between siblings is caused by the amount of time spent on electronics or not. …show more content…
I believe the nature of this interaction would be non verbal communication since there was almost no communication in my observation. They were using their phones and laptop the entire time. They haven't talked at all for about twenty minutes. I tried to make a conversation, but one of them ignored me, and the other just replied with a one word answer. Half an hour goes by and they are still in the same seat. Another hour passes by and all they said was "pass me the tissue box" and "turn on the AC it's too hot". They both looked relaxed the entire time until I told them to stop using their phones and actually start talking to eachother. I believe that this observation can be based on Chapter 3 through the role of nurture. The role of nurture is a theory in which people's behaviors are learned. I think that they learned that behavior through the setting which also affects their socialization. It could be from their friends or even from school. Or maybe their age is linked with the fact that they are not communicating. Since they are both young, their age could be the reason they are not socializing and are constantly using their phones. I think the only problems and difficulties that I faced during the observation is that there was barely anything to take notes on, since they are not doing anything just sitting and using their
They text and shop and go on Facebook during classes, during presentations,
“I’ve been at parties where the kids are all hanging out, but instead of looking at each other, they are staring at their phones.” Once again, this shows that children are more focused on their lives online than their real lives. Kids are not speaking to each other, because their phones are distracting them. They are starting to care more about their phones than their friends. He demonstrated his social development when he was out working in groups and placing the groups’ needs over his own (p.105). Chris Hadfield had many interactions with others as he was growing into his adult years, as he transitioned through Erikson’s stages. He experienced Erikson’s stage of intimacy vs. isolation, when he has away from his wife and children. In all Chris had developed through Erikson’s stages of social development to be the person he needed to be later in life.
The parents and children spend minimal time together because the technology replaced the parents position in the children's
During this essay I’ll be conducting an observation amongst students outside of a school setting. For this study I collect about a 2 hour and 30 minutes playing PS4 with some friends. Mind you i didn’t tell them I was observing for a study I just acted how I would normally act amongst group laughing, telling jokes, and partaking in their conversation. Since we were playing video games and we are so competitive I instantly sought out to watch how everyone attitude was.
The biggest problem is the amount of time kids are spending alone with their devices.” (Tarshis 9) This suggests that instead of spending quality time with their friends in person teens chose to spend time alone with their cell phones. Teens need to spend more time in- person with REAL people, not sitting on their phone staring at a screen for hours on end.
The focus of the students on their phones prevented them from interacting with those around them. This set of behavior was most frequent in the students who seemed to be in a hurry to reach their destination. This makes sense given that there is a very limited amount of time available for students between
more formal methods. Information about the child's interpersonal behavior and learning style and a systematic record of a child's behaviours can be used for planning intervention for the physical and the instructional program. Young children are particularly good subjects for observations because they have not yet learned to mask their feelings, thoughts, and behaviors very well. The "Intimate Space" is a spatially well-defined behavior setting, within which a group of 2-3 children can interact socially. The QUASI- EXPERIMENT helps clarify how minimal changes in the physical environment can effect children's social interaction.
Informal Observation The following observations were observed by me in M’s classroom. The time of the observations neared the end of the Pre-K school year. Observation 1 M colors the square boxes with crayons. He holds the crayon in a collect hand position. M colors the boxes carefully and stays inside the lines.
This piece of the novel relates to the real life problems we have with teens who spend long amounts of time on their cellphones. “A growing body of research shows that the average six to nine hours daily screen time consumed by tweens and teens is potentially

Today in class we participated in an activity called, sitting volleyball, a form of volleyball that is played in the Paralympic Games. (Olympic style games for athletes with disabilities.) This activity helped me understand the fundamental skills that are needed for disabled players to participate in athletic activities. Some of the adaptations made for this game were lowering the net, decreasing the team sizes, changing the court sizes and changing the way players moved on the court.
The family has a strong impact on the development of the children. The main characters’ lives are centered initially within their family. Thus, the family environment becomes the primary agent of socialization. The atmosphere of the house influences children’s emotions and behaviors. In Crane’s first novel, both parents are alcoholics.
Lisa, My Nonverbal Observations Lisa has had a brain injury since her father pushed her mother down the stairs, depriving her brain from the essential nutrients flowing from mom. Lisa came into my life eight years ago, verbal and nonverbal communication has constantly been a struggle to comprehend and determine the truth from a seven-year-old in a fifty-year-old frame. Talking to a child is always enlightening, they speak the truth; unless it gets them in trouble. Observing Lisa, I saw the slouching shoulders, hand held down into her lap clasping her hands tightly to cause her knuckles to whiten.
Technology has played a big factor in the families lives today. Families have made electronics a main part of their life, constantly checking social media to keep up with what everyone else is doing instead of doing an
