In his day, he was the mightiest man on earth” (195-200). Just by reading this line, one can see that Beowulf was portrayed as one of the mightiest, most exquisite men in the world at his time. Whether it was his strength, courage, or willingness to please the people, something set him apart from the “normal” individuals. I think this illustration, created by Rubin and Garcia, really portrays what traits Beowulf possessed. In addition to being courageous, powerful, and possessing a willingness to protect the people, Beowulf was able to harness the monster inside of him in order to conquer his foes.
They knew sneaky ways to win battles

Leaders come in all shapes and sizes, however, what gives someone the title of a good or bad is decided by the decisions they make and how those decisions affect others. Odysseus led the squadron of soldiers in the trojan horse and is a hero of the Trojan War and the king of Ithaca. Consequently, this gives him experience when it comes acting in difficult situations. This experience should guide him to choose correctly when being put in a tight spot.
In the epic poem The Odyssey by Homer, Odysseus was a very strong leader based on the decisions he made with his crew when he was with the cyclops, with Circe, with the sun gods cattle, and with the sirens. First when the crew was in the cyclops’ cave, Odysseus decided not to kill the cyclops right away, but instead make a plan in order to be able to escape. Odysseus made a very good decision that would let all his men, not just him escape, when he decided to blind the cyclops and force him to move the boulder, letting them escape. With Circe Odysseus did make some bad decisions, but overall in the end he made the right choice. First he was lured into the witch’s house, intending to get his men back, but stayed there 5 years when he decided to party.
Even though Odysseus has many things to worry about through his adventure, he manages to make tough decisions for the best interest for him and his men to survive. According to the article, “The Nine Traits that Define Great Leadership,” “ All leaders must make tough decisions”(1). In other words, the best leaders are capable in making difficult decisions in a difficult situation. Odysseus is certainly a decisive leader. Whatever situations come his way he thinks about what him and his men need to do for their best interest and make a decision quickly.
Alexander the Great is an inspirational leader through his valor, ambition, and brilliance. Having the courage to conquer the Persian empire and other nations. In addition to his usage of ambition to guide his followers. Applying his intelligence to military tactics and administration to produce a successful empire. This military leader affected different people over the centuries, in addition to important political leaders, Julius Caesar and Augustus made pilgrimages to Alexander’s grave.
But the author of Beowulf must have had the intuition to create a character bearing this load of supremacy because it was just a fantasy to claim it himself. The courage Beowulf pronounces is what makes him who he is as a warrior seeking glory and pride, he sought out to the Danes’ land in search of the monster Grendel after countless men attempted to kill him for the King’s riches and glory, but that is not the only reason Beowulf sought out for the riches. Beowulf’s courage led him to Hrothgar’s kingdom not only to kill Grendel but to also pay back his father’s debts. This just shows that Beowulf is a man of his word, dignity, and respect as well as glory seeking and warrior’s courage to raise his reputation for monstrous deeds to his people. The author might have created Grendel as a symbol that there might have been a figurative monster in his or her life that was destroying them as a person, such as depression or anger or a bad habit that took over their life and their dominant and glory seeking ideal of a attitude from Beowulf was their way of slaying that monster Grendel who represents that depression or anger in
Achilles is superior to many others because, he serves as the Greek army 's best warrior. The Trojans are frightened by the strength that Achilles puts forth, that even his war gear makes them want to run away from him in terror. He shows his strength, as he is capable to conquer the power of Hector and defeat him. Achilles is invincible, unlike Hector, as shown when Homer states, “Achilles’ invincible arms-”(20.569) Achilles has a reputation as a power warrior, as shown throughout The Iliad. The face of death doesn’t stop his courage from shining through.
Odysseus was an effective leader in battle, an amazing fighter, and he was the person who helped defeat Troy by using the wooden horse. Although everyone thought this was a heroic action by Odysseus to obtain victory, the gods were not so happy with him, especially Zeus. The gods punished Odysseus by making his journey back home difficult for him and his men. Even though Odysseus was being challenged by gods, he had traits that were of an epic hero. Also, throughout his journey he had friends and companions to help him travel back to Ithaca safely and obtain his kingdom once again.
