Sometimes being a hero is difficult. You don't always have to save a person's life. You can just put effort into it and try as hard as you can. Being a hero is loyal and responsibility. Odysseus is in between.

Odysseus is a hero because he has saved many of his men from the Cyclops and tried to save as many as he can. In The Odyssey, the Cyclops was eating Odysseus men, Odysseus gave him a bunch of wine to drink and then got him drunk, later that night Odysseus stabbed him in the eye and the Cyclops went blind. This shows that Odysseus is a hero because if he never stabbed him or got him drunk, he would eat them all. Odysseus is a hero because all of the suitors were invading his home when Telemachus and Penelope did not like it. In The Odyssey, Odysseus and Telemachus fought every single suitor until they were all dead. This shows Odysseus is a hero because it is what everyone wanted, is the suitors to leave. Also in The Odyssey, when Penelope heard Odysseus was home she was filled with joy and fainted from so much excitement. This shows Odysseus is a hero because Penelope was saved by him and now he has returned back home to her.

Odysseus may have saved Penelope, and tried some of his men, Odysseus is not a hero because he only killed people for his benefits. In The Odyssey, Instead of Odysseus talking to the suitors to leave he killed them all. This shows Odysseus isn't a hero because he could have waited to see if the suitors would leave because Odysseus has returned. Also in The Odyssey, when his men were dying he tried to save but only for his benefits.
