After Odysseus’s travels he arrived home to see hundreds of suitors waiting in his yard. While he was gone, all the available men in the land decided to pursue his wife. Odysseus got Athena to disguise him as an old beggar and he met up with his son and devised a plan to rid his wife of the suitors. He then seeks refuge, still dressed as an old beggar, in Penelope’s house. He tells her that he has seen Odysseus and describes himself to her. His description brings Penelope to tears and she asks him to stay in her house. Even though she is assured her husband is on the way, Penelope still decides to marry whoever can string and shoot Odysseus’s bow. The suitors line up to attempt to shoot the bow through twelve axes and they all fail. Odysseus,
