Odysseus has displayed a few times that he cannot properly command his own crew. An example of this is shown in the very beginning of the book: ”But not by will nor valor could he save them, for their own recklessness destroyed them all” (Homer 1. 10-11). This sentence showcases Odysseus failing to control his crew members, which highlights his ineffective leadership skills.
