In both Mockingjay and Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Collins and Rowling show how distressing memories reduce a person to a lesser version of themselves. In Mockingjay, Katniss finds it difficult to find her strength again due to the painful memories she has from her experience in the Hunger Games. Before Katniss acquiring most of her distressing memories, she was a strong, independent girl who was focused on surviving and protecting the people that she loves at all costs. The painful memories affect her so strongly that it even restricts her from doing normal activities such as riding the elevator in District 13. A Thousand Splendid Suns is a beautiful story of the struggles of Afghan women. Two of the character, Mariam and Laila, both have a different beginnings to their lives, but both lives entangles themselves and makes for an interesting story with its own rollercoaster of emotions. On page 250 of the novel, the “unguarded, knowing look” that passes between Mariam and Laila is enough to show that their adventures have just started and that the relationship has much to flourish. Throughout the book, you will see Mariam and Laila prosper and grow as characters and ladies in general. To know the details of their struggles, inner turmoil, and honest victories you will just have to read the book.

By being a voice for those who can not speak for themselves, Phillis Wheatley has given life to a new era of literature for all to create and enjoy. Without Wheatley’s ingenious writing based off of her grueling and sorrowful life, many poets and writers of today’s culture may not exist. Literary Essay In the story Don’t Give Up the Fight and Making Sarah Cry, the common theme is courage. The common theme is courage because in both stories they both have the boys treating girls horribly because of who they are and what their gender is. Even though the two stories have the same theme they both are different in many ways. For example, in Don’t Give Up the Fight the main character, Ava, told her best friend and later stood up to the track coach and her fellow track teammates.
Some people would say being a women in the 1920s was difficult and their right. Besides the point knowing that they grew stronger because of things like the 19th amendment, women’s roles, and fashion/style choices that still would make them incredible role models. This research question is significant because many African American women were involved in the Civil Rights Movements but their actions are always underestimated and their input is usually not recognized. These women were very significant during this time and had been very successful in starting their civil rights organizations projects as well as jumping in and serving as lawyers on school campuses. This is worthy of study because the Civil Rights Movements was a chain reaction that changed the world, and the fact women were getting involved and trying to make a difference was a great deal back then. As well as, the fact that these African American women were seen as minorities, yet they did in fact , alter the outcome for their social progress in the movements. They took matters into their own hands because they saw how badly they were being treated and how they also were being perceived as worthless people.
Generacism Flannery O’Connor uses her profound and substantial words to unleash a deeper meaning within her writing “A Good Man Is Hard To Find.” Although there were numerous cultural conflicts amongst the story, racism is a very firmly expressed concern in the text due to the generational differences between the grandmother and the family. My grandmother, Mimi, is the most lovable woman to walk the Earth. However, due to her generational differences, it led her to believe an adopted black baby might be troubling to her family. Despite their personality variations and verbal behavior, my grandmother and the grandmother in “A Good Man Is Hard To Find” have been afflicted in tremendous ways by the surrounding society from their past.
From the publication of East of Eden to today the rights and empowerment of women have escalated exponentially. Women are no longer obligated to follow the nurturing mother ideal; they can be independent and strong.
