“AHHH” Imagine waking up to that sound everyday, every morning. You hear people screaming and running away from who knows who. In other countries children as young as you or even younger, experience this. Thanks to our soldiers we can wake up every morning knowing we are safe. But are we really? Terrorism is not only a national issue but it is also a worldwide issue. In some cases we are not able to stop these attacks such as 9/11, the Boston Marathon, and the Oklahoma City bombing. Everyday kids are affected due to terrorism emotionally or physically. Something needs to be done quickly, and it starts with us. So how can we help?
Nothing can go wrong on a perfect day right? A perfect day, what could go wrong? Well actually many stuff can go wrong. Such as the Boston bombing. It was a sunny day on April 15, 2013. Many citizens were getting ready to run the Boston Marathon. BAM!, the Marathon started, many people were to run 26 miles along the Boston streets ending near the Boston Public Library. Dzhokhar A. Tsarnaev and Tamerlan Tsarnaev released two pressure cooker bombs exploded right near the finish line, about 12 seconds away. On April 19,1995, at 9:02 a.m., anti-government militant Timothy McVeigh rented a truck packed with explosives and detonated it in front of the nine-story Alfred P. Murrah Federal building in downtown Oklahoma City. The explosion blew off the building's north wall. The bomb destroyed one-third of the building. Rescue efforts were taken up by state, federal, and local law enforcements. A lot of the donations were received from across the country.
Timothy McVeigh decided to draw his on diagram of the device that caused this devistating explosin taking the lives of 168 people at the Murrah Building April, 1995. These sketches were made in May of 1995 several weeks after the bombing. The bomb was made up of mainly explosive grade ammonium nitrate fertilizer, but it also had some diesel fuel, nitro methane and your regular manufactured explosives like Primadet and Tovex. This homemade bomb was actually made larger and was mixed more substantially to cause a more destructive explosin.
On April 19, 1995, at 0902 hours, Oklahoma City was rocked to the core when a bomb was set off outside the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building (History.com Staff, 2009). A total of 168 people were killed, another 850 were injured as the result of the bombing. At the time of the bombing, there were no indications of who was responsible for the disaster. While searching the debris investigators discovered a twisted axle from the vehicle where the bomb had been located. The hidden vehicle identification code led investigators to a rental facility in Junction City, Kansas (Goodman, 2017).
After the shooting, the people of Boston demanded that the soldiers be tried and executed for the shooting. Two soldiers were found guilty of manslaughter. This whole incident is outrageous. There isn't any need to result to violence when something goes wrong.
A similar attack occurred on February 20, 1987 in Salt Lake City, Ted placed a bomb outside Gary Wright’s computer store injuring his left arm. The weird thing about the 1987 bombing is that Ted did not bomb again until 1993 a whole 6 years. All of Ted’s targets in this time period were university professors, airline officials, and people closely connected with technology. There was a huge truck bomb explosion on April 19, 1995 it happened outside the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma city, Oklahoma. This bombing ended up leaving 168 people dead and and so many more injured. Timothy McVeigh was the one who set off this blast and was put to his death for these crimes in 2001. Timothy had a partner who's name was Terry Nichols and he ended up receiving life in prison. This tragic bombing was the worse attack from terrorist to have taken place on the United States soil, until September 11, 2001.

Political actions taken by the United States in regards to the Vietnam War caused an uproar of controversy in the 1960’s. The city of Madison, Wisconsin became grounds for mass protests against the Vietnam War. Over one million lives were lost in the 20 years of war. Many protested these tragedies at the Capitol in Madison. While their protests were seemingly peaceful and respectful, the retaliation was not.

On April 15, 2013, in Boston, Massachusetts the Boston Marathon Bombing occurred during a marathon which was a very devastating day in the United States , there was also two bombs that went off close to the finish line. Also, the Marathon is always held during Patriots’ day to honor the war. The Boston Marathon Bombing injured around two hundred sixty-four people and the explosion of the bomb killed three civilians also, there were fourteen people who were amputated. The bombing had two suspects both who were brothers and later on in 2012 their family emigrated to the United States. During the investigation, it was found that the homemade bombs were created from cookers that held pellets and nails. All of which were disguised in backpacks that were left by two suspects. The iconic World Trade Center was located in downtown Manhattan. 110 stories high looking over the city. “More than 10,000 workers were involved in building the World Trade Center complex.” (World Trade Center) It was a dream come true for American citizens, 200,000 people visited these iconic towers daily.
The attacks of September 11, 2001 on our country was one of the most tragic and deadly days in our history. It brought a country together and the American strength of freedom and unity became a battle cry. After the dust had cleared, the questions came about that asked, how could this have happened?
