Maybe, Sofia wondered, if she lead her life to become an old fortune teller instead of a space pilot or whatever-this-was, her life would be a little easier. Well, she continued to wonder, maybe not. Fortune tellers weren't exactly filled with accurate information you could cite in an essay or credit in the footnotes of a textbook. They stared at a crystal ball as if they could see something that wasn't their reflection and flipped around tarot cards to tell you your supposed 'fate'. They were filled with false hope, cheap guesses, and whatever will make their customers think they're genuine and magical. So maybe it was hard to be an old, old fortune teller once an angry face walks in, asking for their money back when their marriage proposal…show more content…
on accident. A lone girl named May, someone Sofia held a grudge against but couldn't really find a reason to hold it after the girl dropped out of school, found a postcard with some weird language and a set of coordinates. Someone in the group was able to understand (how? She didn't know), so they went looking and ended up finding an (actually ancient, even though it looks the opposite) space shuttle, which led them to space... also on accident. It actually may have been Sofia's fault, since she was the one driving the shuttle. It was blocked off at first, and it only responded to her touch at the time. They were being chased by other shuttles and a load of aliens, and then they were being chased by people back on earth for finding the stupid postcard with the stupid alien coordinates, so what else could she have done? Apparently the shuttle holds some legendary magic powers that could overrule the lord…show more content…
Sofia remembered the shorter girl had a fascination with different weapons. Like, it was the only thing that made her eyes twinkle. It was as if she was looking at a sunset or a puppy. It was so silly, how the girl would sometimes go off about material in the gun Sofia was holding, or how she would hold a knife so carefully in her hands you could have mistook it for a new born baby if you were only looking at her back. God, it was so weird, right? A teenage girl so fascinated by pointy things? Sofia couldn't even get May excited over music, or dancing, or literally anything else. It was the way her eyes would go wide with excitement, the way her pout would form into a smile she tried to hide with her left hand, and the way her voice would go up a few octaves, that Sofia just didn't get. It was... it was so... odd. It was odd. Sofia thought it was odd. She wasn't very sure why she kept thinking about May for a few more minutes after she walked off, with her stomping and her lack of elegance, so she shook her head profusely and went to find something to entertain herself with, because she definitely wasn't going to follow May on her weapon shopping
