Revolutionary officer, Francis Marion was a commissioned officer in the South Carolina Second Regiment. Earning his nickname, “The Swamp Fox,” the general hid in the swamps to surprise attack the British troops. This is known as Guerilla Warfare, where he is credited as the Father of this tactic. General Marion lead the Patriots to victory in the American Revolution because of all his military tactics. He is a Revolutionary legend and credited for many victories as a military general in command.
According to Russell Yost writer of the article “Daniel Morgan Facts, Biography, Accomplishment,” Daniel Morgan came from a poor education and a rough childhood to become an American hero. He rose through the ranks based on his ability and not his last name. If he had been a British subject he would have never been anything higher than a private.” Based on his early life, his reasons for joining the revolution, his role in the revolution, and his later life, Daniel Morgan was a hero of his time.
Colonel Robert Gould Shaw born in Boston Massachusetts on October 10, 1837. Shaw came from an highly privileged abolitionist family in which he attended Harvard University before withdrawing from the school and became a Captain in the Union Army. The opportunity was given to Shaw to lead the first ever all negro repentant the 54th Massachusetts. COl. War changes people, as exemplified by the characters in the movie Glory. King Henry V was capable to interact with people from all walks of life. He delivers his historic St. Crispin’s Day speech to his men right before they are in an inadequate position during the battle.He conveys this by making all of his men feel equivalent and remarking. In this piece of work, I will reveal three examples. These examples will indicate that they are all contributing in this battle as a team as well as how Henry is motivating his men.
Patrick Henry’s Speech may have tipped the scales and started the revolutionary war. The British came into America and had troops stationed all over. The british acted like they were trying to help the British at first but it became clear of their real intentions. Fortunately not all the colonists believed that the british were for them especially after they started taxing the colonist, just to show that the had the power to. The reason that this speech is so important and remembered to this day is because Patrick Henry knows how to persuade people. Pathos was a persuasion tool that Patrick Henry used and it proves to show that it worked.
When someone brings a knife to a gunfight, they lose, every time. Also if they go against two people and they are only one person, they will lose. An example of this was the last major battle of the American Revolution. Lord Cornwallis, a British officer with 8,000 redcoats, was the one person. The patriots and their ally; France, were the other two people. The "fight" was the battle of Yorktown, the last major battle of the American Revolution. At the battle of Yorktown, Britain lost the battle, as would be assumed. For this reason and others, Cornwallis ' defeat was inevitable and was essential to the patriots ' victory at Yorktown.
A recognized patriot was Patrick Henry. He saw that the colonists were strong enough to fight against their mother country. Henry preached for a revolution in his “Give me Liberty Speech” in 1775. In fact, he is well remembered for saying “give me liberty or give me death”. Colonists were tired of the way the British government treated them. What the colonists actually desired was to have a say in the government. Galloway’s Plan of Union shows how the American government was formed around not giving the government too much power. Oliver Cromwell was one of the major leaders of England during the Age of Absolutism. Cromwell was born on January 30, 1599, to Robert and Elizabeth Cromwell in Huntingdon, England. His beginnings were very humble and very normal for that time. He went to school at Huntingdon Grammar School which was a free school attached to the hospital. Oliver went to college for a few years, but then got called back when his father died in order to take care of his sisters and mother. He ran their estate and worked as a farmer in order for his family to survive. He later married a woman named Elizabeth Bourchier, the daughter of London merchant Sir James Bourchier, in 1620.
You are in a trench, waiting for the British troops to charge up the hill so you can get a chance to fire. Suddenly you realize, that you are at Breeds Hill, not Bunker Hill. You are about to say something when you hear the yelling of a British soldier, you look over the trench and you see the enemy charging up the hill, you know the battle is about to begin... In the Battle of Bunker Hill, even though the Colonists soldiers retreated in defeat it had it’s great effect on the British. In our history there was a great battle, 1133 were wounded and 383 were killed. When the battle of Bunker Hill happened the British took over Charlestown Peninsula, Bunker Hill and Breed's Hill. The Battle of Bunker Hill was a very gory battle. Thousands of people died and it was an atrocious battle. Bunker Hill is a significant Historical site because of its importance to the future of the U.S, the generals who participated in the war, and the eventual monument that was erected to memorialize the event.
The Battles of Lexington and Concord signaled the start of the American Revolutionary war on April 19, 1775. The British Army set out from Boston to capture rebel leaders Samuel Adams and John Hancock in Lexington as well as to destroy the American's store of weapons and ammunition in Concord. The colonists were warned however, by riders including Paul Revere, that the British Army was approaching. Sam Adams and John Hancock were able to escape and the local militia was able to hide much of their ammunition and weapons.
