Although violence does not occur on screen, we can see the violence exists there through the ways people talk and tell the Olivia's story. According to the characters, the rapist always threats victims that if they tell anybody what happened, he would kill them, kill their parents and it remains in the child's mind. In order to get the rapist's name, doctors in the hospital must even act like bad people and threat to kill her so then Olivia tells the name of the rapist. This means the violence has always happened in Liberia society that everyone is so scared of it. There is an interview with a man who was in the military in the Civil War before in Liberia. The reason why he acts the violence is because of the war. After the war, he always has nightmares and there is nothing he can do or nobody he can talk to, that reason makes him stress and lead him to do violence. We know that gender inequality is the particular form of social or legal status that may confer the privileges or barriers to people in the society. Based on gender, people will have different treatments in the particular situations. Indeed, there are many children who are victims of rape in the hospital as the result of gender inequality. Because of thinking rape is the ritual purpose act, men rape women and children without worrying anything. Women are more likely to accept this act because they are in the inferior groups in the society. Women do not have many benefits and rights to make their own living. When Olivia's mom is asked that why she does not report the rape. She says that they need a man's voice to stand strong and because she is a woman, it is not enough. With her answer, we can see that men and women in Liberia have very different powers and benefits. The gender inequality affects terribly to people, especially for women. There are many women make money as prostitutes in Liberia, they live in the streets and poor slums. According to the documentary, prostitutes have an average of four to five people every night, but the money they earn do not enough to afford their lives. Women have less access of education, work and privileges than men. They usually do housework and take care of their children while the men work outside and control the
Violence is a terrible thing, but is also essential in life. Without violence, there would be no such thing as reality, and no such person a real person. We walk in a world of two types of people: real and unreal. The real people have seen and experienced violence. They no longer see the world through eyes that see the wonderful and the paradise, but rather through eyes that “might never see it right again.
Consistently connecting these events is a cycle caused by emotional and physical violence. Violence breeds violence, and shame is why people resort to violence, and why violence will always

These group’s leaders were both men, named: President Doe and Charles Taylor. Leymah, like other women fought for peace in the country, while the men fought for war. Subconsciously, these acts caused many women to mistrust the men. In addition, the president of Liberia was committing foul acts against the country “We all knew the evil things Doe and his men had done” (Gbowee, 35).
I find that this example highlights the fact that while women had far less political power in society during the nineteenth century, the least the law could do was to protect the sexual integrity of women; However, African American women suffered from racial, gender and class discrimination that makes it difficult for them to prosecute those that sexually assault them. Furthermore, anger of white men were usually taken out on the wives of freed African American men and usually in the form of sexual assaults and this made the situation for African American women
Black women are treated less than because of their ascribed traits, their gender and race, and are often dehumanized and belittled throughout the movie. They are treated like slaves and are seen as easily disposable. There are several moments throughout the film that show the racial, gender, and class inequalities. These moments also show exploitation and opportunity hoarding. The Help also explains historical context of the inequality that occurred during that time period.
Springer (2009) believes that violence is a gross stereotype which is associated with the depiction of the culture in the context of 'war in terror '. African, Asian and Islamic cultures are said to be highly violent. Thus, any discourse that suggests violence should be viewed as contextually specific, because it is bound to particular places in which the culture of violence is formed. Therefore,
The violent culture of Guatemala has left the omnipresent violence and societal issues unquestioned by many. Within the past decade, violence has become an alternate form of justice used to create social control. These acts are the result of a lack of faith in the justice system and government institutions, which have elements similar of those during the Civil War. The methods used combine traditional authority with Civil War-based methods of repression. Between 2000 and 2006, the number of homicides doubled, multiplying from 2,904 to 5,885, and increasing during the years in between.

Inequality has long served the elite to exclude and dehumanize the inferior. Large populations are oppressed in this manner, specifically women. Patriarchy, a social construction and unjust social system that is oppressive towards the feminine and all that is considered subordinate, can be credited as the root cause of the latter. It is historically accurate to claim the aforementioned. Patriarchal ideologies dominate modern society and have empirically destroyed life; Auschwitz, Dresden, Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Vietnam, Iran, Iraq, and Afghanistan serve as explicit examples.
Typically, one does not think about unemployment being a social problem, unless you are someone that is unemployed or has experienced unemployment. Unfortunately, unemployment is becoming a serious social problem today in society. Many people who happen to be unemployed are more than capable of working they just do not have the proper experience or flexibility that a job requires. Many are also unemployed because there are not enough jobs for everyone. The unemployment rate is rising every day and the something needs to be done to stop this.
In countries such United Kingdom, it is stated that “[…] Poverty is the main reason [of prostitution]. […] prostitution is about women’s poverty and lack of choices, lack of economic choices, lack of other ways of earning money [and poverty of all kinds] […]. ” (Prostitutescollective) In fact, Poverty is the main cause that brings helpless woman to the doors of prostitution. Instead of staying that outdated mindset of prostitution as a taboo in the society and seeing its legalization as a crime, we should rather trying to help those young women enclosed by its doors.
