Online education is a type of distance learning that is accomplished exclusively via the Internet, and with the easy access to the Internet as a learning tool at libraries, homes , place of work educators are now strongly faced with the challenge of whether to use this tool for course delivery and to what extent of online learning should be incorporated into the curriculum over traditional class based learning. The concept of online classes was spoken of in a contemptuous manner as institutions that maintained no specific campuses or home bases, granting large numbers of educational degrees based on inferior education and assessment of the recipient. There seems to be a new soothing sense of welcome towards online learning given the pressing need for flexibility in scheduling and the new advancement seen in it’s communication technologies and capabilities. Colleges and universities are trying to reduce budget by encouraging students to enroll into their preferred online education platform for example Beckers program, Kaplan program and so forth, showing that online study is more cost effective compared to traditional learning programs. The most important advantage to distance learning is the fact that one can pursue his or her preferred choice of education at any point of their lives , because there is no control about location, what is necessary is having the most convenient and a portable computer and a very good internet connection. You may even be lucky as to find an online school that specializes in your particular field. Either way, your options for education will be greatly expanded be it acquired online or in a classroom. Online education enables discussion boards, that increase student interaction and the variety of ideas expressed while also reducing course domination by the most vocal students.
