Going to college is no easy feat. It requires much time, effort, and resilience from the students, as well as sufficient funds to support them. For community college students, these kind of stressors are amplified. Traditional courses tend to take up a lot effort and time, student that has a full-time career must attend to classes before even glancing at their coursework. However, many students have found ways to solve this problems. The common solution to which students found refuge is in the form of online courses. Online classes, are great for individuals who have a demanding work schedule and family responsibilities. Farrokh Alemi and PJ Maddox (2010) both with PHD have taken this into consideration and “have developed a large number of open online courses at George Mason University Department of Health Administration and Policy and more recently at Georgetown University Department of Health Systems Administration”. Farrokh Alemi goal is to educate people on how the Internet is Revolutionizing Education and how it opened multiple opportunities for any individual to learn freely and efficiently. However, even though online learning can be more convenient and effective than traditional classes, doesn't mean it is easier. Despite the potential of online learning to deliver high-quality instruction at reduced costs, an intense requirement for self-motivation is needed. Moreover, traditional college programs are typically required that students meet with advisors to help them plan their path in college. If the students only need a course or two, it is not an issue. However, when pursuing an entire degree online, they will need to be proactive in finding the information needed to ensure that they are taking the right classes a degree plan. However, as a matter of fact, In terms of self-direction it does not differ from that of classroom learning. The distance learning format allows students to pursue education through an out-of-state school without having to transfer residence.
