Opinion Essay: The Boston Tea Party

In 1773, on a December night in Boston there were three ships sitting in the Boston Harbor. The Dartmouth, the Eleanor, and the Beaver were the ships names. All three of those ships were carrying tea. The tea wasn’t unloaded because residents were angry because they were threatened not to buy the tea or use it. People of Boston were angry at the government of Boston that passed the “ Tea Act” since the Tea Act passed the law said the colonists had to get there tea from the East India Company.

the historical events that i learned was that i did in my history class was that i learned about the boston tea party. The reason why i chose the boston tea party was that i think that it played an important role in what made america in the beginning. The boston tea party was when the sons of liberty where going to make sure that the british were going to leave them alone so the poured out all the tea into the boston harbor. The colonist would try to team up with the indians to help them even out the numbers because the were out numbered by hundreds of troops. But the indians refused to help the colonist because they thought that they would be betrayed and the colonist would kill them.

The Boston Tea Party was a key event that provoked the start of the Revolution. Furious at the colonists for rebelling him, the king was in shock. In response to these rebelling colonists, the king made the colonists life miserable.

On May 10, 1773, Parliament passed the Tea Act, the primary objective of which was to save the British East India Company from bankruptcy. It also eliminated all tea tax except the three pence Townshend tax. A third goal of the Tea Act was to offer Americans tea at a lower price than that of the colonial smugglers [1]. However what happened was the average American colonist became angry with this latest act in a long line of unpopular policies, laws, and taxes imposed on him by Britain [2].

Many events took place - the Boston Tea Party for example - before the American Revolution. Many were what caused it to happen. All of them were not just for the Americans cause, some were for the British too. Some things that caused the American Revolution are all the taxes without representation, the dept of the king, and the colonists rebelling. After the many battles in Europe, the British King was in debt from buying all the heavy equipment to win the war.

The boston tea party occurred when colonist as a way of rebelion attack british by throwing the tea that they found in their ships. And some people wonder why they did that and historic events show that there were French Indian War before that make the colonists to have an economic crisis so they can pay for the products. And the unique product that haven’t tax was the tea.

The Boston Tea Party disrupted this period of calm. In December 1773, a group of patriots took over three ships and dumped 342 chests of tea into the harbor. The harsh Tea Act imposed by the British caused this action. Two years later, the British began their march to Lexington and Concord to arrest patriot leaders and seize their weapons.

The Boston Tea Party was a symbolic event of the Revolution, but one can speculate with a good degree of certainty that it would not have occurred if not for the series of historic events in Boston and other colonies that preceded it. The Boston tea party was a result of The Stamp Act, The Currency Act, and The Tea Act. Since Great Passed these three laws it angered many of the colonist and resulted in The Boston Tea Party. The Currency Act was the first of many new laws that Great Britain had created that the many of the colonist angry. The Currency Act was a law the prohibited American colonist from using there own American money to buy goods from England.

The American colonists held the Boston Tea Party on December, 1773. It was not a party though. It was a protest against taxs from England. The British Parliament had already taxed sugar, coffee, wine, and newspapers. The tea tax was too much.

However, in 1773, the East India Company noticed that there was an overproduction of tea and its prices surely would decline (“The Third Imperial Crisis”). Tea was one of the, if not the, most valuable asset to many members in Parliament. Britain was forced to impose a new Tea tax on the colonists, which was aimed to keep the price of tea high. Even this act was reasonable in the eyes of the British, but to the colonists, this was just a British way of assuring dominance considering it was now for profit rather than to pay off debts. The response to the Tea Acts was the Boston Tea Party of 1773 (“The Third Imperial Crisis”).

The riot began when about 50 citizens attacked a British sentinel. A British officer called in additional soldiers, and they too were attacked, so the soldiers fired into the mob, killing 5. The Boston Tea Party began with the Tea Act that past in Boston. The law prevented the colonists from buying tea from other tea shops and that tea was more expensive than the others.

Intolerable Acts The Intolerable Acts can be viewed as one of the first sparks to the flaming fire of America claiming Independence. The Intolerable Acts, also called the Coercive Acts, were a series of laws passed in 1774 in order to punish the colonies for defying their rule. Four out of five of the Intolerable Acts were directed towards Massachusetts directly and the other was directed at Quebec. All of the Acts were supposed to stop the colonies from defying England’s Rule and show the colonies that England was still in charge.

The Tea Party movement is an American political movement known for its conservative positions and its role in the Republican Party. Members of the movement have called for a reduction of the U.S. national debt and federal budget deficit by reducing government spending, and for lower taxes. The movement opposes government sponsored universal healthcare and has been described as a mixture of libertarian, populist, and conservative activism. It has sponsored multiple protests and supported various political candidates since 2009.

The Boston Tea Party Have you ever wondered what it would be like if an iconic moment in history had never happened? Although The Boston Tea Party cost Great Britain a great deal of important resources it was a necessary event for the Colonists to get their freedom. The British Parliament passed the Intolerable Acts to punish the Colonies for dumping British goods in the harbor. The Boston Tea Party also paved the way for the Revolutionary War. Therefore the American way of life would be extremely different today had the Boston Tea Party never happened.
