1. Company background: ORACLE was founded by Larry Ellison in 1977 and at first their company name was called software development Laboratories(SDL). In 1979, the company changed it name to Relational software,Inc.(RSI).This is when they first introduced their product called “ORACLE V2” which support simple SQL operations. In 1983, the company renamed its name to ORACLE Corporations. Then, they started to released many version of oracle database with new various features.Their breakthrough is in 1999,where there is an major versions of oracle database that have various new features to support Internet applications such as oracle 8i(i = internet) etc. In 2001, they released an upgraded version of oracle 8i which is called oracle 9i, which include …show more content…

It is really an honour to be able to participate in this sharing session knowing that Oracle is an international prestigious corporation that provide high class software and services. I was also really impressed that Oracle are able to remain as a competitive company in the long run as they constantly try to stay relevant in the industry so as to meet many business needs. It also provide a brief overall of how oracle implement all sorts of software for their client. For example, the business process flow that is needed as a basis. I also learn a lot from other people asking interesting question. For example, how the oracle get real time currency rate when company perform transaction with other company in different country. There is also a structured way for any company who have an existing erp system (SAP) to migrate into oracle so as to assure client that such a way does not involve high risk. One thing that is undeniable is of how an ERP system can help the business in many ways such as reducing redundant job, save time, save paper and improve their business processes. If one inspired to be an erp consultant, they need to have a deep knowledge of the business processes and must be very familiar with it. Thus, they should understand the manual system of the business and the knowledge of the module which will makes the consultant to work faster, gain good level of knowledge of this modules which will better equipped to analyse the client problem and suggest better solutions. Besides all the business process knowledge, they would also need to be experienced in the technical aspect. This is so by understanding the software product very well as their main task is to implement the software to ensure that the client business achieve an efficient and productive processes. Thus, it is very challenging to be an erp consultant as you need to be experienced
