Orange County is a place which has a great influence on other parts of the country and even the world. It highlights the greatness of living in the United States, yet it doesn’t see how it shows the worst of American’s that live here. Orange County has the power to change the physical and cultural characteristics of other places around the world. Who knew that a little county in California could have such a huge impact on culture in other countries around the world? It is used as an example for many places in terms of architecture, fashion and lifestyle. Developers are using the architecture of Orange County to base their new building on. For example, if you look at Las Vegas, it looks awfully familiar to some of the attractions at Disneyland (Goldberg 77). It is not surprising to see that people are looking to Orange County as a benchmark of what they want their projects and other to look like. An amazing example of this is the “Orange County” in Beijing. What this refers to is an entire community designed by a developer from Newport Beach (Week 11). It really is amazing that these people come here or see it on T.V. and they went their homes to look exactly like the homes that are in Orange County.
Another example of how Orange County

It is looked at as New England was looked at in the early days of America (Meinig 166). People wish they could live in these conditions. Ultimately, this is the reason that so many people flock to the United States. Despite them seeing that and assuming that life in America is like this everywhere, it isn’t. Everything is constantly changing in Orange County and other cities are trying to capture the same style that Orange County has. That is why thousands of people from all over the world flock to experience life in Orange County (Weightman 59). The residents of Orange County are some of the most privileged people on the
The local government uses the California building code as a set of standards to be imposed on construction. In order to obtain a “Certificate of Occupancy” (which pronounces a building fit to inhabit), the building department inspects the construction project in order to ensure that it complies with California building code. When a building is found lacking or short of the code standards, the inspector will require that corrections be made prior to a certificate being issued. Building Code Construction laws date all the way back to ancient Babylon, but in ancient times, the inspectors of the construction put a heavy emphasis on penalties when faulty construction was evident. Beginning in the 19th century, cities started to incorporate building
The strict regulations of building codes concerning vibrations of the earth and San Francisco’s residents’ love of cars prevented loft conversions on a large scale. Around 1993, the new loft projects that were supposed to create affordable housing increased real estate figures dramatically to levels that were unreasonably high; this happened in the Soma area of San Francisco. There were also the beginnings of live-work occupancy lofts in individual zones designated by the Planning Department in 1989 at the south of Market Street. The key stipulation was that “work” be restricted to “arts activities.” Change began primarily with the zoning requirements in SoMA that permitted large-scale developments and prevented community-oriented designs.
The landscape, trams, and distinctive wooden mansions give the city a unique charm. San Francisco is an outstanding representative of the physical geography. The essay aims to investigate the history of the region, the general features of four spheres of physical geography in San Francisco, and forms the possible representation of the future of the area. In Mexico city, there are better standards of living compared to living in rural areas. In the city many people have opportunities for a decent wage. Also higher chance of allowing their children to go to school. Due to many farmers moving to the city, it has caused rural decline for the people in the surrounding cities. Urbanization has caused many issues for Mexico City.
Retrospectively, Hispanic Americans have played a large role in shaping Florida, and creating the rich, dense history of the cultural paradigm that is present-day Florida. Pedro Menendez de Aviles is a quintessential example of someone who has used dedication and audacity to overcome hardships and develop the state of Florida. Harriet Beecher Stowe once said “It is as though some little… Spanish town had broken loose, floated over here, and got stranded on a sand bank,” and that it
Located in the county of Monterey, it was the first city in the area to start using building styles in a new way. Salinas ' tallest office building is an excellent example of the “Zig Zag” modern. Along with this, residences and apartment complexes in the area kept this expression. According to www.mchsmuseum.com, “The Monterey County Building (1936) at the corner of West Alisal and Church Street may be one of the best Depression Moderne buildings in the state.” All of this was done with a very small town, about 10,000 people to be exact, and a poorly run city at that.
Architecture has the ability to remark and reflect any region, give a feeling and a sense of a place, and present thoughts and creativity. Across the world, especially in the United States, there are many cities that are distinguished by its architecture and unique styles: The skyline of New York City is defined by it’s skyscrapers; San Francisco’s mixture of Victorian and modern colored houses; New Orleans’ iconic Creole townhouses; and Miami’s modernist architecture. Los Angeles, San Diego and some of the cities in the same region are no different from the previous appreciable cities all around America. These cities are located in the state of California which is on the West Coast. They share some significant architectural characteristics
“The American Flag represents all of us and all of the values we hold sacred” (Cronauer). When Christopher Columbus discovered America a new country was born. Europeans came and settled on this “new” land. They kept and created traditions and values, and we have kept those values ever since.
El Paso is a very culturally diverse city that borders, its sister city, Juarez. The city has given me a unique view that is very different than most people in the United States and the rest of the world. Living here since the day I was born has greatly influenced my childhood, it has given me an understanding of how different the Hispanic culture is from the American culture. I had a live-in maid until I was about ten. All of my maids only spoke Spanish, so in order to communicate with them I had to figure out my own way to speak to them so they could understand me.
This can serve as an explanation for the explosion in popularity of suburbia, more and more people moved to the outskirts of cities to live in cookie cutter
For housing it starts with suburbia, william levitt, maker of Levittown, long island uses the Henry Ford method of assembly lines for housing. Levitt creates many cheap look alike houses in a fast period of time, this draws many families to the suburban area. All of the houses look
Yet what is it that makes this town so dreary and isolating?
It contested the professions and the way it was taught. It turned away from conventional architecture and proposed more adaptive architecture that would accommodate the emergent needs of its users through a rebellious style in an age heavily influenced by pop- culture and Dadaism. It redefined architecture and embraced a criteria o perishable yet indefinite, multifunctional space that was applied to new city models. It emphasized a vital support to culturally changing mechanisms of the city and not simply functional organization of space. The radical ideas experimented with spatial, creative, political and consumer freedom that surfaced in the 1960’s.
Utilizing that knowledge in architectural and urban design can guide architecture towards a more humane experience.
