The text discusses three kinds of organizational structures: matrix, boundary-less, and learning. In a 2-page paper answer the following questions:

A matrix organization combines structure based and product based structures.
Employees are grouped together to form teams specifically focusing on individual projects and reporting to project managers and department managers at the same time.

A boundless organization outsources the non-essentials functions outside the company thus focusing staff to deliver value generating and greater strategic functions. A major benefit is where attention to detail can be kept at a very high level with different managers focussing on specific areas of a project.
• What do you think are the advantages and disadvantages of being employed by a boundary-less organization?
A disadvantage of a boundless organization is that you are always reliant on outsourced suppliers for your supplies. If anything happens to resources or even the suppliers itself, then you are left without the supplies that you need to continue your work.
An advantage is that you will be free of the responsibility of worrying about getting supplies so that you can focus on the project that you are responsible for and you don’t have to worry about anything else as all the suppliers have got agreements in place to supply you in a timely manner.
• What is a main cost of maintaining an organizational learning environment?
The cost of maintaining an organizational learning environment is very high as you are always learning, training, experimenting and taking risks. As failure and risk taking is encouraged, there is always a high cost of doing business with little guarantee that you will make any …show more content…

Everybody can learn from what went wrong to make sure that the same mistakes are not repeated and then you will be able to move on to the next project with better chance of making it a success.
Without the fear of failure, you are also encouraged to take risks and truly make a difference. I see this as probably the best way to actually enjoy your work and be free to explore and develop your own methods and ideas.
In a Matrix organization, you need to report to two or more managers and that can hinder your creativity as you don’t have the freedom to experiment and try out new ideas as failure will be a very serious issue with the managers.
In a boundary-less organization, you will have agreements in place with various suppliers and that will dictate the level of quality that you need to provide. There is no room for deviation and any mistakes could cause the whole company to come to a standstill as services cannot be delivered and everything down the line can be affected.
