Why do you feel you should be rehired as a staff member, and how would you improve on any areas of growth you have recognized in your current/past Orientation Staff experience? * I believe that I should be rehired to the Orientation Staff for another year because I believe I was a promote member of the staff this past year and want to continue to develop my leadership skills earlier and eventually become an Orientation Coordinator by the time I am a Senior. By returning to the Orientation Staff for the Fall and June Orientation Programs, I would challenge myself to develop richer relationships with my freshmen and become more of a consistent role model and resource to them during their first year at Providence College. Group 6 was very opened …show more content…
Having gone through the Orientation process once now as a leader, I think that I would challenge myself to talk about the more difficult issues that face this campus and challenge the freshmen and new student leaders to not be afraid of said topics. In the past, I use to be very afraid of talking about controversial issues, and even during Orientation this past August/September I was nervous of saying the wrong things or coming across as ignorant or unaware of important issues facing not just this campus, but society as a whole. As a student leader, i believe that it is important to stay on top of these difficult issues so that we can not only talk about and educate the people we lead, but also to make talking about said topics less taboo and uncomfortable. The more we talk about these issues, the easier it’ll be to have more efficient and productive conversations on the matter and make the campus, and world, we live in a better place. Providence College isn’t perfect, no college is, but by continuing to a part of the Orientation staff, I hope to not only challenge myself to talking about more uncomfortable topics comfortably, but also help others do the same as …show more content…
I think that while I did a decent job at leading my group and making their own experience unique from other groups with my photo contest and La Salle trips, I believe that there was definitely room or improvement when it came to communication with my partner and balancing meeting with the group and running other workshops and social programs. Having gone through the experience once now, I think that it would be easier for me to go through the routine and better stay on top of task while always putting my best face forward toward my group of
Some leaders are chosen to work as an itinerant leader, or shared by partners. The SCS leaders chosen to lead a collaborative group moved forward, ensuring that all partners in the group were comfortable and invested in the structure leadership role (Rubin & Futrell, 2009). Once leaders are chosen, meeting dates are established keeping members abreast of routine meetings and communication. All leaders chosen should be strong enough to support the move and go forward with making
By creating a position for student outreach I feel students can turn to someone who has similar experiences as them and can help them navigate life as a teen on the Branson campus. I think since seniors are expected to lead and have a lot of experience on the campus these students should come from a senior class. So in addition to having a class dean and dean of students, the student body can have two students that focus on the well-being of the student body.
So, I am glad alumni have full use of the career center and its staff because jobs that you might have had during school once you graduate may end and its always nice having someone there to have your back they are also a very great asset to employer they are one of the main connections between employers and new potential employees and also current co-op student the employer may have. How Mary Heller relate to shop management is she and the career center is almost like the human resources department of any business the Human Resource is the middle point between you and you’re boss overall the career center is one the greatest assets in our stay here at northern and Mary Heller has done an awesome job with it since she has been her I will defiantly be making my way to the career center when ready to
However, having past members exemplify leadership skills and Ms. Ryan’s guidance, I was lucky to learn from them and used those skills as I served as a section leader for two years. Being someone that people depend on can be challenging at first. Now you aren’t only responsible for yourself, but ten other people. The memorization of the drill with the music, bringing essential items
At the young age of six, a dark haired little boy was enjoying his times that he spent with his family. Together, they’d spend time visiting other family members in other parts of Wisconsin, as well as going to the zoo, parks, and much more. He was a very active child who loved playing sports to keep himself occupied. This young boy is someone that I would eventually meet and we have found aspects of our life’s to be similar, for example coming from a rough home situation in common along with our strong work ethic, and our thoughts and feelings. His name is Travis Korff.
Holding an RHA position requires a plethora of skills in leadership, personal balance, academic balance, professional balance, and communication. Currently I am seeking a future in the Resident Assistant (RA) positon which will allow me to learn and utilize these skills when providing conflict resolution and creating relationships within my hall. In order to get a better understanding of many different aspects that go into being an RA, I interviewed a current RA named Bayleigh____ and asked her about the several different factors that relate to her personal life and the job itself. She explained her position and how it directly affected her life as a student as well as the personal challenges she faced regularly. The interview provided me with
My time in 4-H, working, volunteering, and my first semester of college have provided me with leadership opportunities and experiences that were often challenging. In order to cope with these challenges, I had to develop skills that would allow me to move forward. The first of which is the ability to work well on a team. This skill is one that I’ve had to practice in many environments such as completing a group project, playing softball, working in food service, and volunteering as a camp counselor.
My counselor group did not work well together, rather, we were completely disconnected. Two out of our five counselors were deemed “campers with more power” by our directors, and one week, our “chief” left on a missions trip. That week was fraught with challenges. In short, the two “powerful campers” didn’t do their delegated jobs properly and it was difficult to make progress. We had to have a meeting with the camp directors in the middle of the week.
As a Human Service major what better way to learn more about the profession than from someone who has experience in the field. I chose to interview a friend of mine, Florence Martus. Mrs. Martus is employed through the city of Fredericksburg, VA with the Department of Social Services. This agency is located at 608 Jackson St, Suite 100 Fredericksburg, VA 22401. Virginia Department of Social Services provides many services to the public such as, Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Medicaid, Adoption, Child Care Assistance, Refugee Resettlement Service, and Child and Adult Protective Services.
Why did you choose that agency and the relevance for your future clients? Being an active duty military spouse, the military lifestyle has become a large part of my identity and I belong within the military community. Working for the Airman and Family Readiness Center as a Social Worker is very much a “calling” for me. When I was a new spouse without a support system, the stresses related to the military were much more than I ever imagined. Now that I am a seasoned spouse who will soon earn her MSW, I really want to be there for the new military members at the best of my abilities.
As A team leader for volunteer service, I illustrated my ability to manage multiple events, planning and executing our events smooth. I do night counseling for students stay at an international student housing for a week, set up engaging activities, and assisting new student during their final move into their dormitories. In my role, I lead students through their orientation sessions on daily sessions. To plan each event, I had to manage multiple tasks, including: communicating with other team members before and after the event; arranging my team member to prepare food; posting the event using facebook, tweeter and other social media; sending E-mail’s about the RSVP’s for the activities; I executed this event smooth transition, so I will use
Group Leader: As a group leader it is important for one to learn certain techniques so that the group can develop and grow as a healthy unit. Some of these techniques are as simply as being able to engage in therapeutic alliance with the group members. Without building a genuine rapport with the group members and them knowing that the leaders genuinely care and are concerned about their situation a group can deteriorate quickly. As a member of the mock group of sex offenders; it was emotional to express these stories, and the group leaders were genuinely invested in meeting the needs of each member and hearing their story.
At our first few meetings, team building was key. In an effort to overcome the initial shyness, we took the time to understand and get to know our fellow team members; in doing so, establishing a welcoming and encouraging environment for everyone to share their ideas whist too ensuring everyone felt appreciated. Getting the team to gel was essential for the team to get results. We met at regular intervals, usually weekly, to discuss and reassess our progress. However, finding the time to meet proved quite difficult, between everyone’s busy schedules and with the plenty of other assignments we all had going on simultaneously.
How to prepare for onsite interview Getting an opportunity to be invited for an onsite interview is a deal which many of the job seekers worry about. It is an opportunity for the employer and you to connect more on a professional and personal level. Where you both get acquainted about each other's interest, passion, skills and talents, this is the point where both of you put your effort ahead to take the vital decision of hiring or joining. It also gives an opportunity for you to understand if you require the additional set of skills and more importantly you get to meet experience people from the company itself.
This group has really changed my perception of group projects because we actually turned into a collaborative group, one that has a high concern
