Bad guys can be great leaders, Osama Bin Laden is proof of that, but being a great leader doesn't necessarily mean that people are going to be considered as "great." Bin Laden and Hitler were both incredibly great leaders, but neither of them are looked at as great. Alexander was looked at as great both during and after his time, while a small few saw Hitler and Bin Laden as great, they are looked back on as evil to the point where people almost dehumanize them. Alexander was dehumanized in the way of being divine. I think the way in which we are dehumanizing these very similar people says something about the way people see thing today vs. how they did then.
In our history there are some excellent leaders, but there are also terrible monsters. During World War 2 there was a monster who was always thinking about arithmetic. ¨The arithmetic, the numbers. You add, you subtract, and there are no more Jews.¨ And there was one person who captivated us with her words, Jane Yolen.
In addition, in the Legend of the Hat Band, he rewarded an innocent person who had done a service to him by killing him, showing that he relied so much on the legends that he was willing to kill a loyal soldier because it was thought that he might be a threat. He cared so much about legends that he was willing to sacrifice one of his own men. This does not seem like the act of someone ethical or wise as a great leader should be. A third reason that Alexander should not be considered great is that he used brutal methods to conquer land.
Despite Alexander not being politically great, society remembers him as great because of his military prowess
Without their trust, Alexander would not have achieved as much as he did. These examples show that Alexander was great because they provided insight into what Alexander achieved. He had to work hard to gain the people’s trust. It all paid off when he was able to say that he was the greatest leader of his time. Today, everyone wants a trustworthy leader.
Historians argue whether Alexander the Great is a hero or villain. I think that Alexander the Great was a hero for three reasons. Those three reason are that he civilized the cities he conquered, he believed that all people in the world should have one rule, and he gave many things to the people. Here are more details about those reason. The first reason he is a hero is that after he conquered cities he made them more civilized.
Throughout history, there has been great military leaders come and go. Although, one of the most well-known conquerors is Alexander the Great. Many people thought he was a good leader and a good king. However, the people he conquered think otherwise. The people who supported him say he was compassionate towards others.
The Great was a villain because he killed for pleasure, did cruel and unnecessary tasks, and left the government undeveloped. Alexander was villain because he killed for pleasure. Alexander scared Durias
Alexander the Great Alexander III of Mutarch is a man known to be “Great,” but is that really so? Alexander was born in Macedonia, and he took charge of Macedonia at the age of 16 when his father left for an expedition. Although Alexander may have done some good deeds during his sovereignty for his people, it definitely does not outweigh the bad deeds he did to other people. Alexander received the name “Great” undeservingly because he did not exhibit examples of a good leader which should be one who is nonviolent, rational, and unselfish.
A good leader should be humble, gracious, and thankful, but Alexander, on the other hand, was egotistical, conceited, and showed almost no gratitude to his
He was not great because he didn’t show concern for others, leadership, or intelligence. Alexander the Great was not the best because of his mass amounts of murder, not much care for his soldiers, and his poor ability to lead. The first reason Alexander the Great is not amazing because of the mass amount of murder he committed. One example is during the battle at Tyre, once Alexander’s army broke into the city they went on a ferocious killing spree (Doc C). Alexander had ordered anyone that was not inside the temple to be slain and he killed seven thousand Tyrians.
Alexander the Great, although a great leader, was selfish, power hungry, and heartless. He came to power when his father died. He expanded his empire through blood and warfare. Alexander the Great was a villain because he was reckless and he left his kingdom without a ruler.
Napoleon also, was a skilled military leader and became the first emperor of France. Napoleon was a French leader whom quickly rose through the ranks of military during the French revolution and drove his military to expansion and change in the western world. Although they cannot be compared in every way because Napoleon twice relinquished his authority in military leadership, in which Alexander would not have even dreamt of doing. SECTION IV: Alexander the Great should be placed in a time capsule because of his outstanding and notable achievements of brilliant commands and undefeatable battles. He was young and clever with his battle tactics so that he could save the world from imperial enslavement.
However, it is my opinion that he is a villain. I believe this because he could be an extremely violent leader and because he never fully reigned over one of the places he conquered/ruled. He is a villain because he murdered thousands of people and soldiers from different nations. Alexander tortured many of his victims and then he killed them.
Adolf Hitler. Arguably the most well known historical leader of all time. Though, many western societies consider Hitler an evil and inhuman man, none can deny that he was a great leader. But was he the best? Hitler rose to power with efficiency that any german would be proud of, he then created a force to be reckoned with from the rubble of a fallen nation.
Whether people want or not, a leader/leaders are necessary to a society. Throughout history and around the world, there have been a number of leaders. When looking back on history, some are successful and others are total failure. However, it is not easy to divide leaders into good ones and bad ones.
