The shooting and killing of Oscar Grant took place on new years day, in the year of 2009. Officer Johannes Mehserle was the man responsible for this killing. Mehserle was called to a scene where a fight had broken out on a nearby train. He along with other officers worked to resolve the mishap that was taking place. While trying to detain some of the fighters from the train, some resisted. Oscar Grant ended up being shot and killed. Some thought of this to be an accident, but many factors go to show quite the opposite. This killing was intentional, and in no way was it an accident. Officer Mehserle stated this action was an accident, in which he meant to use his taser instead of his handgun (Meyer). I do not believe this, and many others don't either. The weird thing was that never again after the shooting did he ever say those words again(Lewis). He also never mentioned anything about the taser, or that it was a mistake. Other officers had stated these facts to jurors while being questioned, which put up questions for the jurors. No one knew what to exactly believe about the whole case. Mehserle knew that his gun would keep him safe, and by using it the thing frightening him would no longer be a
If Aledda weas really trying to protect Dr. Kinsey they would have continued to shoot and successfully shot Mr. Rios, but only one shot was fired and it was very clear who the target was. I do believe that not all police on the scene were crooked and evil. I believe that the one police officer who shot Dr. Kinsey surprised his comrades by his actions, but they would cover for him at all cost, even if that meant lying during the investigation and being suspended without pay. Clearly Dr. Kinsey was no threat to anybody, so why was he shot? No one will ever really know the truth, but it is clear to see that the life of blacks does not matter in this

The text says that there was also a police killing the same day too but the two eyewitness descriptions were
